After reading the Geodes book Leaves, which tells the story of an artist who takes a walk to observe and sketch leaves, students in Mrs. Shaffer’s and Mrs. Lloyd’s classes were inspired to do the same! They headed outdoors to explore nature, collect leaves, and sketch their own.

It's officially OPEN! South Central Elementary celebrated the opening of our Little Free Library with a special dedication from our first graders! Special thanks to Mrs. Glivic, Mrs. Grubich, Mrs. Malencia & Ms. Miller for bringing this idea to life! Take a book, leave a book!

Our South Central Elementary Halloween Parade was full of fun, festive costumes, and plenty of smiles! Thank you to our students, staff, and families for helping make it such a special celebration. We loved seeing everyone’s Halloween spirit!

Red Ribbon Week is October 26–30! Join us for a week of fun theme days as we celebrate healthy, drug-free choices. We can’t wait to see everyone participate!

First graders in Mrs. Glivic’s class are building their math skills with number lines! Students practiced solving subtraction equations, using the number line to find answers and show their thinking. We’re proud of their focus and hard work!

First graders in Ms. Miller’s classroom are building their addition skills! They’re practicing strategies like counting on with a number line and using ten frames to solve addition problems. Great learning and problem-solving in action!

Reminder that tomorrow is Picture Day!

Last week, students in Mrs. Kunkle’s fourth-grade wrapped up their Personal Narratives and explored Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio by Peg Kehret during Unit 1. recovering in hospitals. Inspired by Peg’s story, the students wrote and shared personal narratives of their own.

Today we celebrate our incredible custodians! Thank you for keeping our school clean, safe, and welcoming each and every day. We appreciate all that you do!

What a great night at Open House! It was fantastic connecting with our families and sharing all of the amazing things happening at South Central. We’re grateful for the support of our school and excited for all that’s ahead the rest of the year! #BigMacsBigPossibilities

Science in action in Ms. May’s 4th grade class! Our students put their learning to work by creating their own solar-powered circuits using a solar panel, wires, a motor, and a fan. Students explored how energy from the sun can be converted into electrical energy.
