Thank you to @kimmiesawake for joining us at Queen’s Park to advocate for a more caring substance use treatment system where there are no wrong doors and no endless waitlists.
Together we can ensure that people who are using substances get the support they need.

Our substance use treatment system is failing people.
On average it takes 97 days to get into a treatment program in Ontario.
We must do better.
The Ontario NDP has a plan to scrap the waitlists and build a caring substance use treatment system.
We must ensure that we have strong oversight over substance use treatment so that no one is financially exploited in their most vulnerable moments.
Thank you to Michael Owens for joining to me to share his son’s story, and to demand better for every other family in Ontario 🧡
Grateful to our Hamilton steelworker community for coming together to support striking National Steel Car workers (USW7135) and Stelco workers facing layoffs (USW 1005).

It’s that time of year 🍂
High-risk individuals can get their COVID vaccines now. Eligibility will open up to general population after Oct 26.
Check with your local pharmacy, primary care provider, or public health unit to see where you can get your vaccines this year 💉
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) says Hamilton Health Sciences’ (HHS) decision to cut 97 nurse and health-care aides from surgical units and operating rooms will delay care for about 30,000 people waiting for surgeries in the region.

Hamilton deserves clean air. It’s that simple.
The province shouldn’t wait to hear from residents (again) that they are seeing more black soot on their homes, their children, or their pets.

NEW: The IESO, which manages the province's electricity grid, signed a contract with an American utility for power over the winter, despite the government's policies on shifting away from the US.
Critics say it undermines the Premier's buy Ontario / Canada plan.
