#OnThisDay 1867 Fanny Adams was murdered and dismembered in Hampshire. A national story that gave rise to the naval slang, sweet Fanny Adams as @RoyalNavy introduced tinned mutton just after her death (Now Sweet FA). The meat was in a can which sailors kept and called a Fanny.
