Compassion without judgment is not mercy. It is a failure of justice and too often, the innocent pay the ultimate price.
Twelve days before 15-year-old Mia Valentin was murdered in Kandel, her family reported the threats to police. Her killer had claimed to be a child. X-rays later put his age at around twenty. @Ayaan on the difference between mercy and compassion, and why, when compassion replaces judgment, the innocent pay the price: URL: ayaan.restoringthewest.com/c… #RestoringTheWest #Mercy #Justice

Running a winning campaign is hard enough. @katy_merrifield was named BC Conservative campaign manager the day the writ dropped, with a new leader and a party still finding its footing. Most campaign managers have to fly the plane. Katy had to build it while flying it. And still won. An extraordinary achievement.

Lorne Doerkson delivered a gracious, unifying, and forward-looking address as British Columbia’s incoming premier. He opened by sincerely thanking Premier David Eby for his years of public service and the personal sacrifices of his family, then extended appreciation to every candidate across all parties for putting themselves forward He struck a note of inclusion toward voters who supported other parties: “To the British Columbians who voted for another party yesterday, I heard you. Starting today, I am your premier as much as anyone else’s. You will have a government that listens to you, works for you and respects you.” Doerkson framed the result as a clear mandate for change after nearly a decade of NDP government, noting that people are “paying more and getting less.” He committed to an independent financial review of the nearly $14-billion deficit and eight credit downgrades, launching an expert commission within 100 days to keep emergency rooms open and cut wait times, and raising the basic personal exemption to $32,000—putting roughly $1,000 a year back in the pockets of nearly every working British Columbian. He reaffirmed the promise not to raise taxes: “When I make a promise to British Columbians, I will keep it.” On the economy and trade, he pledged early outreach to the Prime Minister and Alberta’s Premier Smith to advance the Pacific Link working group, supercharge growth through LNG and new Asian markets, and make B.C. “the most attractive place in the world to invest”—the best way to protect jobs in a trade conflict with the United States He particularly addressed rural and northern communities, noting he lives in Williams Lake and understands mill closures, nighttime ER shutdowns, and wildfires: “Under this government, you will never be an afterthought to the public service.” He closed on a note of seriousness and determination: “People are stretched. The economy has stalled and too many British Columbians have stopped believing government can get anything done. My job is to prove them wrong. … Strong leadership for serious times. That’s what British Columbians voted for and that is what they are going to get.” Overall, the respectful speech emphasized listening, fiscal realism, practical healthcare and affordability measures, economic growth through resources, respect for rural voices, and high standards of conduct—positioning the new government as ready to deliver results on day one @LDoerkson

Federal Liberal MP Jennifer McKelvie was the deputy mayor of Toronto under Olivia Chow. After working closely with Chow, McKelvie is endorsing Brad Bradford. Tells you something.
Toronto, we have two days left to vote for change. Thank you to my friend and former Deputy Mayor of Toronto @mckelvieAJAX for backing our plan to get Toronto moving, keep taxes down and make our streets safer. Now, let’s finish strong. Get your friends, family and everyone you know out to vote on Monday.

I condemn the horrific terrorist attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George in Karak, Jordan. Opening fire on families mourning a loved one is an act of profound evil. We stand with Jordan’s Christian community and pray for the victims and their relatives. No one should have to fear for their life in a house of God. Memory eternal.

There is no version of economics that says taxing an industry more will make it more competitive. And the economic data bear that out. What spell are Cdns under that makes them believe otherwise?
Steel plants closing or packing up for the United States. And Carney is still out here claiming carbon taxes will make Canadian steel a global leader. Higher costs, less competitiveness, jobs walking out the door… and the response is still the same Net Zero pitch 🤦🏻‍♂️ If this was working, the plants would be expanding here, not leaving! How is that not obvious?? Anyone still buying this? #cdnpoli

Look at that. The Build Canada poll not only has Bradford ahead of Chow city wide - 48.4% to 43.7% but ahead by even more in North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke. Read more on the poll here. torontosun.com/opinion/colum…

The PBO projects the Carney gov’t won’t meet its second fiscal anchor of a declining deficit-to-GDP ratio. The Carney gov’t is blowing through its fiscal anchor - after doubling deficits in its first budget compared to Trudeau’s last budget. #cdnpoli pbo-dpb.ca/en/publications/R…

There is no "blind trust". Carney did not divest himself of anything, as decent leaders are required to do. He knows exactly what is in his investments, so is well aware of spending Cdns tax $ and pension funds to benefit himself. No accident Brookfield is involved everywhere.
Replying to @WorkingCdns
Mark Carney lied about his blind trust His so-called “blind” trust isn’t blind at all because he knows what he put in the trust, he chose his own trustee, was allowed to give the trustee instructions & the trustee is also allowed to give him regular updates. Also, Carney owns stock options in Brookfield Corp & BAM that he can’t sell for years, so he knows for sure that he has those investments. @DemocracyWatchr

Two polls now show Brad Bradord ahead of Olivia Chow. This is what momentum looks like with one week to go. torontosun.com/opinion/colum…
#BREAKING: @BradMBradford takes lead. A new snapshot of the City of Toronto from Mainstreet Research now shows Brad Bradford leading over incumbent Olivia Chow. With a week to election day, Bradford now has the support of over almost 5 in 10 voters (48.9%) compared to Chow who receives a nearly equal share (47.5%). 13% of voters remain undecided with just days until election day. #TOpoli mainstreetresearch.ca/post/b…

melaniephillips.substack.com… This is what’s been termed “the omnicause”. And it’s being synchronised across western Europe. In other words, we’re witnessing a much broader and deeper challenge than merely a crisis for France. It’s a war on the west being waged by groups with disparate agendas taking advantage of a civilisation in deep trouble. Those involved are leftists, anarchists, Islamists, assorted grievance-artists and useful idiots imagining they’re marching for the “oppressed” of the earth — and with malevolent outside actors stirring the pot.
