It was an absolute pleasure to work on this edited collection with @RoisinFlood and all the wonderful contributors, and a privilege to launch it, hot off the press, at Lesbian Lives last night.
So thrilled that my new co-edited book with @AmyToothMurphy Queering Desire is now out in the world! Just in time for a book launch at the Lesbian Lives conference tonight. Check out the cover featuring a painting by amazing artist Sadie Lee. #QueeringDesire

The salary of a PhD student in many European countries is now higher than the typical starting salary of a UK lecturer, with a postdoc in Europe often surpassing a UK lecturer salary. Meanwhile, some top UK depts now require a published monograph for entry-level positions (1/2)

🤔 How can we do collaborative, ethical research with marginalised communities? Why should we question our role, power and relationality as researchers?

“Zara believed that a woman should be able to walk home.”
Please, take the time to read every word of this tribute to Zara Aleena by her family. I’m not sure I’ve read anything quite like it before.

Please don’t cut trans men and nonbinary people out of the conversation today. This is not just a women’s rights issue, anyone who can get pregnant is affected.

I really wish people would stop drastically using the scenarios of rape or incest as the sole premise for an abortion. A woman doesn’t have to be in a traumatic situation for it to be reason enough. In fact there is zero explanation that needs to be given.

Reading the news coverage of the @UCU #FourFights strike, I get the impression that many people don’t know what University lecturers do (and why would they?), so here’s a thread on it. I’m a psychologist, so let’s start with the work of the average psychology lecturer. 🧵👇1/18

Good morning, exhausted university staff are back on picket line today as our working conditions, pay and pensions continue to be cut and worsened. Real time wage reductions since 2008, pension cuts and precarity - this must stup! #USS #UCUstrike #OneOfUsAllOfUs @UoK_UCU

#WhyImStriking As I explained to my students today, I don’t have it so bad. But I refuse to walk through a picket of precariously employed junior colleagues who essentially work for less than minimum wage on zero hours contracts to go to my permanent post. That is not solidarity.
