Buildings holding political prisoners are tonight on fire to the sound of gun shots... my heart breaks at the reality of the evil of the regime oppressing the Iranian people tonight and for a generation.

On @JustStop_Oil's Van Gogh soupy Sunflowers protest:
1. No harm was done to the painting.
2. A lot of harm is being done to the climate.
2. Not a masterpiece of the protest-form, but experimental Van Gogh would probably have enjoyed it

Utterly bewildering Govt attack on solar farms. Solar is a win-win for energy & food security - it's *9 times cheaper* than climate-wrecking oil & gas (and much faster to deploy too), and fields with solar panels can still produce food. Who's behind these nonsensical Govt plans?

Mandated hijabs have long been a symbol of government power in Iran, writes Amanda Taub. "The danger of imbuing restrictions on women’s bodies with such potent political symbolism, it turns out, is that women will seize that symbolic power for themselves." nyti.ms/3RFIqyY

Similar to case of #MahsaAmini, the Islamic Republic denied killing & even arresting her, claiming that she’d died after falling down a nearby rooftop. However, security forces stole her body and buried her secretly.
Conservatives are now warning she may turn into another Mahsa.

Ranting about an imaginary ‘anti growth coalition’ is just an attempt to obscure the hard reality that the biggest brake on UK growth is Brexit - and that’s on the Tories.

I’ve moved into a new role at NME! I am now Associate Commissioning Editor (New Music), and would love to hear Radar pitches from new, passionate writers as I take over the reins of the section.
But for now, I'm in my beloved Toronto celebrating this (and my 22nd birthday)!
