Honored that Dr. Mani Menon highlighted my video of SP precision #prostatectomy during his Andrew Novick Innovative Award reception lecture at @CleClinicUro SP symposium a giant in robotic surgery whose relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence continues to inspire us all!
Thank you, @RamPathakMD! Anatomical mastery and SP robotic system proficiency unlock the full potential of retroperitoneal GU surgery as all its organs are in the retroperitoneum

- nutcracker
- adrenal
- salvage prostate
- distal ureteral stricture and VVF repair
- renal mass

Central renal masses are readily approached retroperitoneally with the SP robotic system, whether anterior or posterior. I favor a medial/hilar approach first to define the vascular and collecting-system anatomy early, facilitating controlled tumor dissection.

Amazing how SP can expand options for our patients. A 3-cm retroperitoneal incision in the supine position allowed complete removal of a complex staghorn stone in a single setting—with only 45 minutes of operative time. This is what MIS innovation is about. @HUMCUrology
Prostate cancer is not a one-size-fits-all disease. Saying RT is simply “gold standard” ignores how treatment must be individualized based on the patient, cancer characteristics, and goals.
Controversial statement by @SJFrankMD, informed by the ProtecT study results, for those who still think prostatectomy is the better treatment. #ASTRO26

A privilege to have Dr. Menon join us @HUMCUrology and provide valuable guidance during “prostate de-escalation surgery” using the SP robot. This may preserve continence and erections without compromising cancer control in select patients, unlike focal therapy. @MMenonMD

Another example of how far MIS can go-even in patients we once thought required open surgery. The more we push the envelope, the more we can offer our patients. The future is pushing boundaries toward a day when open surgery may no longer be necessary for many complex procedures.
WashU reports the first robotic combined liver-kidney transplant.
If you'd have told me in 2002 when I started fellowship that this was possible, I'd tell you you're nuts.
Less trauma and easier recovery in some of our sickest patients.
Amazing.

Anterior approach with minimal apical/urethral mobilization can achieve continence comparable to Retzius-sparing, with potentially favorable oncologic margins—without highly selected patients. And it can be performed effectively extraperitoneally with the SP robotic system.
Great visit to Koç University Hospital, hosted by visionary Prof.Yakup Kordan & @erdemcanda, early adopters of the @IntuitiveSurg SP, exceptional facility with comprehensive robotic and laparoscopic training, plus truly a model for hands-on surgical education.@RMKAIMES
Thank you for the opportunity to present! The enthusiasm and feedback were incredible. Exciting to see the interest in what SP can do-few extraperitoneal access routes to virtually every GU organ, without entering the peritoneal cavity. The future of regionalized urologic surgery!

@RoboticsUrology @HUMCUrology presenting the wide spectrum of @IntuitiveSurg SP cases, with verve, as only he can! @NYSAUA 🇮🇹! ALL GU ORGANS ARE EXTRAPERITONEAL!
Unforgettable Rome tour at the @NYSAUA Annual Meeting, hosted by President @Hossein5555 ! Next stop: vibrant Jaipur, India, where President-Elect @JSandhuUrology will welcome us next year. Tomorrow’s SP talk will be packed with insights—can’t blink! 👀
Very nice demonstration. I stopped using clips over six years ago. I believe proper identification of the anatomical plane and judicious use of energy are far more important than simply trying to achieve an athermal dissection with clips-not risk-free and can cause inflammation.
Clipless robotic radical prostatectomy.
A surgical approach focused on meticulous dissection, precise vascular control, and preservation of surrounding structures — without the use of surgical clips.

The best treatment for POP is robotic sacrocolpopexy, with mesh advancement addressing ant and post defects. With the SP robot (3cm incision), with proper training, often takes under an hour. Unfortunately, many URPS surgeons remain inadequately trained in the robotic approach.

We’re seeing this more and more with referral for SP robotic simple.Recently, a patient came from a nationally renowned center after PAE and radiation for prostate cancer, yet 12–15 stones >1 cm were overlooked, leaving him miserable. Now we’ll do SP robotic simple+stone removal.
What’s going on in some centers? 🤔
A patient with a history of Rezūm and TURP is still voiding terribly, despite alfuzosin + finasteride. And now, as a third step, he’s being offered prostatic artery embolization (PAE). 😲
What about #HoLEP? Why not?
We should offer patients what they need—not just what we have or what we know how to do. 😀

Amazing stuff! Congratulations to you and your entire team. You’ll soon discover that the SP Robot provides access to surgery you never imagined possible—and makes MIS even more minimally invasive. Exciting times ahead!
