As a mom and a woman in science, I’m positioned and ready to fight RFK Jr.’s misinformation and drive meaningful change aimed at improving women’s and children’s health. My oped with

Check out the latest #podcast by Silent Spring's Dr. Elissia Franklin on "Chemicals and Cosmetics: Understanding the Risks." Produced by @theresearchher in partnership with @ResilientSP. #endocrinedisruptors #beautyjustice open.spotify.com/episode/0H1…
Could not get thru phone lines to @SenWarren or @SenMarkey, so I went to their Boston offices to express support for an end to horrific violence in Gaza. This crisis affects acute, chronic, and multi-generational health. Their staff were so kind and willing to speak, thank you.

Did you know the first female crash test dummy for car safety testing was just introduced this past year? It's no wonder women are 73% more likely to be injured & 17% more likely to be killed in a car crash because cars have been designed to protect men.

Assessing and managing the risk of chemicals based on groups or families makes more sense and has many advantages, chief among them reducing exposure to many harmful chemicals at once which can improve public health. More on how to do it here prheucsf.blog/2023/01/31/its…
Thrilled to see this paper out in the world!! We propose a decision tree to advance science and regulatory decisions on assessing chemical classes or groups. Thanks to @mvmaffini @SwatiRayasam @TraceyJWoodruff and many others for making this happen!
Replying to @UCSF_PRHE
Adopt a class-based approach to evaluate chemical risks rather than evaluating hazardous chemicals one at a time. ehjournal.biomedcentral.com/… @mvmaffini
It's a fair question to ask what the impact of 3 fossil fuel burning power plants has on the surrounding communities. Glad my report for @MassClimate was used in this hearing on the #PeabodyPeaker. You can hear more in my interview on the Climate Minute podcast.
At a public hearing last night about the proposed Peabody "Peaker," North Shore residents and environmental activists were clear:
They don't want more fossil fuel infrastructure, period. And they certainly don't want it in an EJ neighborhood.

Three brand new flex posts obliterated within days of being installed on Mass Ave x Huntington. This is the intersection where a dump truck driver killed a cyclist four months ago. @bostonbikeunion @CityOfBoston
My cat's enthusiastic reaction to "Use of a piecemeal, linear approach [as opposed to systems approach] does population health an injustice." in new #CommercialDeterminantsofHealth book! 🔥🔥 edited by @spidermaani @sandrogalea Mark Pettigrew
My research with @MassClimate shows populations who live near a new power plant in Peabody already have higher disease prevalence and live in #EnvironmentalJustice neighborhoods. Thank you @bu_urban for the support to do this work! bostonglobe.com/2022/11/04/s…
Congratulations to Dr. Susmann for a great dissertation defense today!! @herbps10 🥳
Cambridge covid-19 wastewater data hasn't been updated in 2 weeks. Do we have a new testing schedule? @CambridgeDPW @CambHealth @realBurhanAzeem
Campaign finance reform is a human rights and public health issue. #ForThePeople #AntiCorruptionAct
our team at @Earth_Uprising just compiled data comparing the voting records of U.S. Senators who confirmed anti-abortion judges to the Supreme Court, to the amount of funding they receive from fossil fuels.
And the correlation is undeniable — and totally infuriating: /1
New study today! Since products don't come with an ingredient list, we wanted to know if product labels predicted presence of #PFAS. The headline sums it up.. we found PFAS in stain/water resistant clothing, pillow protectors, upholstery, other products marketed for children.
PFAS are showing up in children’s stain- and water-resistant products – including those labeled ‘nontoxic’ and ‘green’ bit.ly/3s7F5Pq
New #PFAS study out today with @laurelschaider! We tested 93 children's products. Water/stain resistant products had more total Fluorine detects and higher PFAS levels, even if they had "green" certifications. Obvious question- do these things need PFAS? pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
Delighted to present alongside colleagues at @SilentSpringIns @laurelschaider @ToxFreeFuture @Mike_Schade #KathrynCrawford on #PFAS in consumer products at the Northeast Conference on PFAS Science. Thanks #newmoa for making my first in-person conference in a long time so great!
