Is #EV demand real? @VW sees 10,000 orders in less than 24 hours. Now imagine what demand would be like with 300+ models to choose from across all OEM's. It all starts next year - where will all the batteries come from? #lithium

Chinese lithium carbonate inventories continue their fall...now less than 3 weeks of supply, even for the restated series...In my view it's only a matter of time til prices bounce...

IMO @Lithium_ARG is the least understood / most under-appreciated lithium producer.
Great to have my friend Sam Pigott to discuss $LAR’s 70% operating margins and growth projects Mr Market appears to be valuing at zero.
The latest in @RKEquityRocks lithium producer CEO series👇👇
At a ~$800M market cap, is @Lithium_ARG's PPG stake effectively free?
Cauchari-Olaroz delivered 70% cash operating margins in Q2, while $LAR owns 33% of the planned 150Ktpa PPG project.
We ask CEO Sam Pigott about the valuation gap, Ganfeng financing and growth ambitions. 👇

When I talk about price manipulation in lithium, I'm not talking about some nefarious state actor. I'm talking about companies. Behold the situation on GFEX at the moment. Lithium carbonate inventories in the market have been falling for all this year...GFEX inventories going in the opposite direction, producing an impression of oversupply that is simply not true...that's manipulation!

“Rio Tinto Group said lithium output for the full year would be at the lower end of guidance after weather impacted its operations in Argentina.
The Olaroz project will produce less of the battery metal from brine ponds due to rainfall, while its Fenix operation was also affected, Rio Tinto said in its third quarter report on Wednesday. Progress at its brine project under construction, Sal de Vida, has also been slower than expected”
Many of us were wondering, but I think @matt_fernley is the only one who asked the question.

I've not really bought into the China lithium price manipulation narrative up to now, but I'm afraid it's becoming increasingly hard to deny it. The price/inventory relationship has been one of the constants during my 25 years as a materials analyst. When it breaks down, there has to be something very big happening in a market. It's broken down in copper over the past 18 months and it's now broken down in lithium over the past several.
In copper, I can understand the move because of the perception that copper is entering structural scarcity - even if I don't agree with that narrative.
In lithium, I can't understand the move. Through all of the other situations when Western commentators have cried "price manipulation" in lithium, the price/inventory ratio has held true. But it's not happening now. How you can have a situation where inventories are falling to only weeks of supply but still have prices falling, even gapping down by over 10% earlier this week, defies belief. I understand that some Chinese analysts believe that the market will go into surplus next year. Some Western analysts believe that as well. But they're not calling for decade-long surpluses, like copper analysts are calling for decade-long deficits. That is not enough to justify current price action, in my view.

‘The initial drill results at Homer are very encouraging. They gave us enough confidence to double the rig count at site, and in exploration you vote with your rig count.
Early drilling has intersected near-surface rare earth mineralization across multiple holes, with encouraging levels of heavy rare earths, including dysprosium and terbium.
Those matter because they're among the most supply-constrained rare earths and are critical to high-performance permanent magnets.’

Lots of questions about the negative GS piece on lithium. While GS' supply forecasting has been some of the best in the space, its medium- to longer-term demand forecasts have been structurally low. Hence they're regularly forecasting a surplus market when one may not occur...

The US grid plans to add 86 gigawatts this year. Here's where it's coming from:
- Solar: 43.4 GW
- Batteries: 24.3 GW
- Wind: 11.8 GW
- Gas: 6.3 GW
- New nuclear: 0 GW
The AI labs are planning for hundreds of gigawatts. Solar is the one source already produced at that scale, and most of it is made in China.
"Scaling firm power that isn't gas is much more complicated. Uprates and restarts can squeeze a little more from the existing nuclear fleet, but the real upside is new reactors."

Chinese EV sales growth and ESS installation growth has been negative this year. Not a great look for the world's most important battery market. But I believe that China is past the worst now and that could have big implications for #Lithium demand and prices in Q4/26 and into 2027

Could China's next restocking cycle move lithium?
Chemical inventories are already low, equities have sold off again, and the October-November demand window could quickly change the setup if restocking returns.
In copper, the long-term scarcity thesis remains compelling - but rising inventories, repeated deficit forecasts and higher incentive prices make the near-term picture more nuanced.
And in rare earths, M&A is beginning to reshape the sector as producers look to add scale and heavy rare earth exposure.
