Tonight's ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by Brielle Saracini and her husband, Sean McGuire, who both were just 10 years old when they lost their fathers on 9/11 and found each other through Camp Better Days.
Saracini’s father, Victor, was the captain of United Flight 175, which was directed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center, where McGuire’s father, Patrick, was working on the 84th floor.
Brielle’s connection to the Yankees began just days after the tragedy, when she wrote a letter to Derek Jeter detailing her family’s deeply personal loss, explaining that her dad would want her to realize her dream of meeting him.
Jeter invited Brielle and her family to a game, beginning a lasting friendship and connection with the Yankees organization 💙

Yesterday, Yankees players, coaches, and staff had the opportunity to visit the National September 11 Memorial & Museum to pay their respects to the nearly 3,000 victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Through guided tours and time spent at the @Sept11Memorial exhibits, the team was able to learn about 9/11 and better understand its ongoing legacy.
