Today I have cancelled my subscription to x - long overdue. I’m now embarrassed to bankroll it. My account will continue to be visible and I will continue to look at it from time to time, so I can reconnect with hundreds of good people I follow and who follow me. There are many ways to contact me including my own websites, email and Substack. Over time I will re-connect elsewhere with friends like @Concraigsmith @seatsixtyone @MarkDiacono @SheilaDillon @Outofmyshed @charbhardy @RNBlake - to name but a few. I used to enjoy the supportive chat on Twitter. Do contact me - DMs still open.

Yes it’s a regular scheduled train! This famous (amongst rail cognoscenti) Transport for Wales restaurant car service has eluded me so far. But the day will come…

My review in today’s Mail on Sunday of Stanley Tucci’s latest book. Who can resist a man who loves his food so much?
To cheer us all up. A winter walk can be beautiful and envigoraring!

1/4: A couple of days after the US election, feeling very despondent, I went down to my local foreshore to try to cheer myself up. And I had a curious pair of finds... the first was this George III copper farthing - can you see the date of 1773?
I read yesterday that all the Curzon cinemas have been sold off. Many of them are architectural gems, all of them are cultural beacons. I’d say there will be more demolition applications coming our way. Sad.

Just had to call 999 on behalf of someone who’d had their phone stolen in Regents Park. The met police officer who answered couldn’t have been more helpful and empathetic. An excellent sign that law and order is getting back on track. @RNBlake
A word or two about public consultation. Too often authorities consider they’ve ’done their bit’ by consulting a few local organisations. But successful politics is about getting to know the neighbourhood, consulting widely and listening carefully. fitzrovianews.com/2024/10/25…

A good crowd last night at the Spanish launch of Glorious Summer in Sunny Books in Mojácar. I’m so lucky to live in a village with a great multilingual community and now (since the spring) a great bookshop. Please visit if you are passing. We must support local bookshops.
