I don’t deny that many diaspora people’s want to use words like “English” or “American” or “French” in unorthodox ways to describe their situation. However, don’t tell me that somehow all words that have classically been used to describe the ethnic identities of indigenous Europeans now just mean nothing more than a legal status inside a modern state bureaucracy such that, in order to describe my own centuries old ethnicity, I would have to develop total new words entirely different from those my ancestors used just two generations ago. This is a transparent hat-trick, and continuing to push this BS insults my intelligence.
