PathoMap just sent the first batch of AI results for our Precision Healthcare AI CoPilot.
I cannot be more thrilled. It's been nearly a 10 year dream and so much hard work coming to fruition.
The patient told us very few things⦠about 5 indicators and took less than 5 minutes to engage with our form.
The results are astounding, if I can say so about my own product.
Our AI has been compared to the patient's medical conditions as well as OpenAI's results.
What we found isβ¦
1. OpenAI does not fully understand healthcare and cannot correctly identify all of the patient's needs nor the order in which the patient should execute.
2. Without a blood test (and a five minute incomplete intake), we identified:
- Hormonal imbalances (androgens, estrogen, cortisol)
- High Stress
- Digestive Health Problem (gluten intolerance)
- Several nutrient deficiencies her healthcare provider did not speak to her about.
- Almost no correlations with her mental health which is suffering the most.
Individual tests would cost $1000-1500, and is the result of 3-6 months of doctor's visits.
We did this with the cost of API calls and in less than an hour.
The future of health is here. π
Well, @boardyai just emailed me and asked if they could write my @ycombinator application.
The only thing left in AI is to make it sustainable.

Someone please reassure me that @elonmusk, deemed one of the smartest and most innovative persons on the plant is supporting the Save America Act because he has confidence all Americans will be able to easily vote.

.@LeaderJohnThune - Are you making sure this Act does not add barriers to women and people who change their name to vote?
On the contrary, are men not smart enough to understand the implications?
CC @PatriotMarkCook @elonmusk
Why are there not more headlines about how Save Act currently increases the burden of people who have moved and changed namesβ¦. Most likely women.
With the Epstein files out⦠is there no sense of remorse and wanting women to have more of a say?
Does @BasedMikeLee understand what are the issues with this?
Schizophrenia can be helped by Keto. Is Bobby Jr. crazy to suggest?
This past week, Robert Kennedy Jr made an announcement that keto can help with schizophrenia. How true or untrue is this?
In my practice as a CNS, and even before that, I've helped patients with schizophrenia to come up with diet and meal plans to manage their symptoms. When I've been at the helm, episodes haven't been present.
Other practitioners such as Daniel Amen have helped people with schizophrenia by using diet, herbs, and neural feedback.
Bobby Jr. was referring to similar case studies where other practitioners have been able to help manage schizophrenia symptoms with diet.
So how true is it that keto diet can help? There are a few ways to look at the underlying science.
The first is to look at common underlying mechanisms that are happening.
With keto diets, and the other diets that are recommended, there is low to no blood sugar spiking. If you've ever had brain fog after eating too much sugar, it's not a far leap to understand that blood sugar spikes have an impact on mental health. Blood sugar can have a huge impact and make people out of control of general faculties. Ketogenic diets stabalize the ups and downs of the brain and help help the patients to have greater clarity from day to day.
Most people get onto keto diets to reduce BMI, and BMI is also more highly correlated with specific subtypes of schizophrenia [8]
Keto diets tend to be anti-inflammatory in a variety of ways. Schizophrenia is associated with elevated blood levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-6, IL-12, IL-1beta and TNF-alpha. The last two of these, at higher levels, are more associated with social withdrawal, lack of motivation and cognitive decline.
One kind of inflammation, CRP, found in blood work, when high is correlated with people who are statistically more likely to develop schizophrenia. Keto often reduces these levels.
IL-6 and TNF-alpha interfere with dopamine and glutamate When there is too much dopamine, the brain will hyper focus on things that are not important such as random sounds and internal thoughts which can lead to hallucinations. When there is low dopamine, it can be hard to be motivated to do anything. In a healthy brain glutamate makes the production of dopamine stop If glutamate receptors are weak or fail, the dopamine system can go into overdrive leading to a dopamine storm and psychosis. Keto enhances the conversion of glutamate to glutamine and then to GABA, increasing the GABA/glutamate ratio, and suppressing excessive glutamate release, creating a more stable brain environment, causing keto diets to influence dopamine by increasing the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, which modulates dopamine.
There is one kind of inflammation, microglial activation, found in postβmortem brains of schizophrenia patients. When these are activated chronically, more cytokines and free radicals that may lead to excessive "synaptic pruning" which can destroy neurological connections. This can lead to a reduced reduction in brain volume.
Beyond this, we all need different nutrients for signals for neurogenesis and synaptic pruning. Keto diets etnd to have less processed foods and foods that are higher in micronutrients.
- Schizophrenia is related to zinc levels (Bitanihirwe and Cunning- ham., 2009)
- Excessive B6 is related to schizophrenia
- Magnesium helps to maintain neuroplasticity
- deficiency in omega-3 PUFAs is found in both first-episode psychosis and chronic schizophrenia patients.
Keto diets are not necessarily high in these but are likely higher in these than a standard American diet.
Some herbs have been shown to be helpful such as rhodiola which improves blood flow to the prefrontal cortex but ginkgo biloba can have adverse impacts especially when using a drug that is metabolized by the CYP450 enzyme system.
In the standard American diet, very often there is a higher risk of leaky gut, which can lead to higher levels of inflammation. Keto diet can disrupt the microbiome and make leaky gut worse. Reversing leaky gut can certainly help reduce inflammation and there has been a high correlation found between leaky gut and schizophrenia [7].
One of the most stark differences between keto and other diets is there is very strong binary decisive factor. Dr. Amen has had strong results helping patients to strengthen their pre-frontal cortex to improve overall decision making and talking back to runaway thoughts. The mechanism of choosing to be keto and making that choice on a regular basis is also likely to help the overall process of reducing the impacts of schizophrenia. In addition studies have shown that with certain types of schizophrenia, there are lower rates of education, though this is only on a smaller scale.
To demonstrate the differences in factors that can lead to schizophrenia and psychosis. One of my clients has had marijuana induced psychosis and is recovering.
This patient was diagnosed with schizophrenia but had no other symptoms. His story re-solidified my conviction that we need to start attaching physiological symptoms to mental illness. It's no longer enough to diagnose mental health with symptoms alone. Current DSM-5 standards likely will not continue to exist in years to come.
So in conclusion, there is a lot of fundamental science underlying recommendations for schizophrenia. There are a multitude of factors. No one diet is best for everyone, but knowing what to look out for can certainly help. Correlation is not causation but understanding what to use and when, can help in the long run.
If you found this helpful, and would like help with mental health or some other complicated disorders, let me know! I am finishing my master's this year and can't wait to help people!
