P.J. Fleck opening statement after beating Iowa (3/3): - That was a long two weeks. They had to hear about that Purdue game, but the Purdue game is my fault. It had nothing to do with not taking Purdue seriously. - You go on the road to Washington, get back really, really late, have an early game, have a huge emotional win, another another field storming, another rivalry win, another ranked win, and then I didn't have them ready to play. We looked slow, we looked lethargic. We did not tackle well we were diving at ankles. Well, you got to change your best as head coach. When I sit there and tell you, like that's on me, that's on me, and then you better build a plan over 14 days to get him to play like that and we did as a staff, and they answered the bell because they have to do it. - Thank you for all of our former players coming back, over 350 alum sharing that. Eric Decker hitting the drum, doing the Row chant. Nothing better for people to take that moment, memory, and run with it. - Just want to thank everybody, especially on homecoming. Huge win for us. Hope everybody enjoys the evening. They've earned it, but be really safe. gopherhole.com/boards/forums… #Gophers

Titles can identify captains. But they can’t create leaders. I love this from Marcus Freeman: “We have a whole bunch of guys who are going to choose to lead. They don’t need a title to lead.” That’s what great teams need. Not 2 or 3 captains doing all the leading. A locker room full of people willing to speak up. Hold the standard. Bring energy. Help a teammate. Do the right thing when nobody is watching. Too many players wait for permission to lead. They think they need a “C” on their jersey, need to be a senior, or need the coach to name them something. You don’t. Leadership isn’t a position you’re given. It’s a choice you make. Every single day. 👇

Washington HC Jedd Fisch on Drake Lindsey's performace against Washington: "He kinda controlled the line of scrimmage. That first half, it looked like he had full access to the entire playbook. He was able to make whatever checks he needed to get them the best possible play."
