Be sure to check your kid's Halloween candy this year, just found Socrates corrupting the youth in my child’s Snickers.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty
Wow - quite an intense 3rd Form Philosophy meeting this lunchtime.
Discussing examples of ad hominem and straw man arguments in UK politics.
"That was good." "We learned a lot."
And up from 6 to 11 pupils.
Back for more after half term - maybe a bit lighter - on Plato's cave.
Was bored with work, wanted to do something rewarding, I volunteer a few hours once a month for a charity. It's amazing. A boring Fess, but it is rewarding. Just do something good for someone, it will make you and more importantly someone else feel better. Do it, please.
I'll be asking pupils studying Morality and Justice what they think of this policy.
From what they've learned so far about the UK prison system I imagine they'll have a lot of questions.

'God' / 'G_d' in a monotheistic context is playing the role of a proper name therefore it begins with an upper case 'G' - Judaism, Christianity, Islam.
A 'god with a lower case 'g' is one of many - such as in Roman, Greek, Pagan or Viking religion.
(Hinduism can include both!)
"Complex texts confuse me - I'd rather read Bill Bryson and Malcolm Gladwell."

Below is the memorial honoring Lewis. Tolkien's memorial will be a bit different, and will be inlaid vertically within a stone pillar at Westminster Abbey, rising about 2.5 meters, featuring the imagery of a tree in a forest as its central theme.

Was telling 5th Form that Pontius Pilate is actually a Christian saint.
Vinnie wanted to know what Pilate was the patron saint of.
Turns out it's political discourse. 🙄
Our first ever 3rd Form Philosophy Lunch today.

Only Connect last night - did you get the sequence at clue 2?
(Smugly) I did!
However I did not know that the hymn 'Lord of the Dance' by Sydney Carter was partly inspired by an image of Shiva as Nataraja.
Every day's a school day!
'Do not covet' is the strangest of the 10 Commandments.
It's the only one you break subconsciously before you've even noticed.
And no one can prove you've done it.
Could have outlawed slavery or domestic abuse, but no - let's make admiring nice things a sin.
