Historical Precedent In 622 AD, Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina (Yathrib), where he was received as a refugee by the Jews who controlled the region. They granted him shelter. Within eight years, after building his strength, Muhammad eliminated the Jews and other non-Muslims in the area. In 628 AD, viewing his forces as weaker than his enemies, Muhammad signed a ten-year Hudna (truce) in Hudaibiya with the Quraysh tribe. By 630 AD, once his power was sufficiently solidified, he violated the agreement, conquered Mecca with ease, and eradicated all other cultures. Muhammad’s Sunnah is binding in Islam (Quran 33:21). Every Muslim is commanded to emulate these words and deeds eternally.
