Not sure what Elon is talking about. Nebius secured 3.5B loan at 6.50/7.50% interest literally 3 days ago: nebius.com/newsroom/nebius-s…

Pretty much. As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers. SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue. That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

Fully internalised serfdom. Fascinating to watch from afar
This is one one the dumbest bs stories I’ve ever heard a politician tell. U telling me this 94 yo woman worth over $4 million needs to work. Ever heard of a HELOC or Reverse Mortgage or of moving?Give me break.

It's literally Brazil
no matter what you think of the candidates, the stock market of a mature democracy should not swing that wildly because of a presidential election. it's banana republic stuff

They supplanted the investment banks post GFC to a great extent
Kind of fascinating that old-line private equity firms like Apollo, Blackstone and KKR are underwriting the AI revolution.

Current generations believe as deeply and as uncritically in podcast, YouTubers and the TL as the boomers did in the TV. Perhaps even deeper

The @kbsalsaud visit to Tehran is no ordinary diplomatic gesture. His seniority and proximity to the Saudi leadership send a powerful signal. Riyadh is investing serious political capital in dialogue with Iran, seeking to contain escalation and create a credible diplomatic path out of the crisis.

Control your board vs. check out and sell beads on Etsy? Touch choices...
Revolut founder Nik Storonsky says one of his investors tried forcing him to fire his best person: “He was forcing me to fire my best person, because he was too hardcore.” “Of course I didn’t fire him. I said no.” “Pretty early on I realized that quite a few VCs, they are not very operational, and they can be actually dangerous for the company if they have enough power. So every single investment round, we just remove VCs.” “Now I don't have any VCs on the board. I think that's the best. You always need to have operators rather than VCs on the board, people who actually build business and who know how to do things.”

Vucic's defeat does not necessarily mean a geopolitical realignment for Serbia. As I told @Newsweek, foreign actors largely remained passive during the elections because either outcome would have served their interests. ⬇️ newsweek.com/pro-trump-serbi…

Parvini thinks that the public in the USA and in UK would be left economically and right (conservative) on social issues. I doubt this. The public are very socially liberal in the Anglosphere, USA and UK. Even among far right. In USA, the public are not economically left wing.

Both the book and movie failed to clearly communicate the concept that this reader saw as central. Death of author, etc...
Part of the problem, and the reason you see so many bad Dune takes, is both book and movie failed to clearly communicate the central conceit: dune is the mirror image of a fairy tale. Paul is a Prince who becomes a Commoner and discovers he is fated to become a monster.

Why shocked? In the USA papers of record publish incarceration rates for different races all the time. There are movies made to engineer public support for various policy responses, prison reform, etc... You people have been so entrenched in culture war that you've lost touch.
I'm shocked that The Economist was willing to publish this!

There is only the first world and third world. There is no second world category any more. First world is the West & Japan. Everything else is third world, since the soviets lost cold war. No need to get overly attached to these labels as esteem. Just do better for yourselves.
Once you remove the false hope that Brazil can be a first world country but also the emotionally charged negativity that Brazil will imminently turn 'third world' just because the candidate you like didn't win an election - you can truly appreciate Brazil for what it is (both as an investor or otherwise): a solid and sovereign second world country, with incredible funk music. God bless Brazil. $EWZ $PBR $BLTN $CIG $NU

Even during the cold war, "second world" was only a polite euphemism to keep the rival pole to the USA in esteem and a useful shorthand for anti-USA bloc.
