Some Web3 events in Nigeria are just expensive motivational gathering. 😂 You leave your house, spend money on transport, dress well, charge your phone to 100%, and head to a Web3 event hoping to meet people, learn something valuable, or discover opportunities. You end up taking pictures and collecting contact from someone who needs another person's contact to get breakthrough. Don't repeat this in 2027.

Your family asks what you do for a living. You say, "I work in Web3." They ask, "What's Web3?" You start explaining blockchain, wallets, tokens, decentralisation... Halfway through, you realise you've lost them. I love my mum's approach. Someone asks her, "What does your son do for a living?" She simply says, "He works for Bitcoin." LOL. Sometimes, you don't need to explain everything. And that's okay. Appreciate your mum with a single sentence.

Remember when many Nigerians believed the government was against crypto? In 2021, the CBN restricted banks from facilitating crypto transactions. Today, digital assets have a regulatory framework under the SEC's ISA 2025, while the CBN has introduced new rules for stablecoins and other non-security virtual assets. Foreign stablecoin issuers now need a Nigerian-incorporated, licensed entity and ₦15 billion minimum paid-up capital. P2P platforms also face stricter identity verification, including BVN and bank-account name matching. This is what regulatory recognition comes with: compliance, accountability and supervision. You cannot demand recognition without discussing responsibility. So, what do Nigerians really want: crypto adoption without restrictions, or a regulated financial ecosystem?

You check your phone. A headline: Trump Media moved 4,259 Bitcoin to Crypto.com. About $340 million. Your stomach drops. Is this a sale? Here's what we actually know: Wallets linked to the company moved the coins. The wallets were labeled as collateral for its debt. Nobody has confirmed a sale. The company hasn't commented on this move yet. And a $1 billion repayment deadline sits on November 30. I can't tell you what happens next. Neither can anyone on your feed. When a big wallet moves, do you react or verify?

Those of you swimming in ignorance let me shock you, i was with the Director of Africa expansion at Tether last week in Lagos, they are in line with government and just employed someone, a Nigerian to represent them. Foreign stablecoin issuers are ready. Everyone cannot get a licence. stop the ignorance on X.

Whether you believe it or not, being good at crypto doesn't make you immune to financial crime regulations. The US Treasury has moved to restrict MEXC from the American financial system over allegations that it processed transactions linked to Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The reported transactions are worth billions of dollars. Here's the lesson for everyone in crypto. Knowing how to trace a wallet doesn't mean you understand the legal risks of processing funds connected to illicit activities. This applies to exchanges, OTC operators, P2P merchants, payment providers, and even individuals facilitating transactions. You may think you're simply moving funds. But regulators may see a transaction that violates sanctions or anti-money laundering rules. Blockchain knowledge is valuable. But compliance knowledge is just as important. In this industry, knowing how to move money is not enough. You must understand where that money comes from and the risks attached to handling it.

Nigeria is no longer Africa's biggest crypto economy. Chainalysis says South Africa now leads Sub-Saharan Africa: South Africa: $39.3B Nigeria: $38.1B The gap is small. The direction isn't. South Africa grew 52%. Nigeria's crypto economy fell 3%. Why? DEX activity dropped 45%. Cross-border P2P flows dropped 17%. But Nigerians sent $25.2B to crypto services, and domestic exchanges now handle half of local exchange inflows. Same market. Different story. If you build or invest in Africa, which number matters more to you: size or direction? Source: Chainalysis, 2026 Geography of Crypto Report

Are Nigeria’s new stablecoin regulations protecting the market or making it too expensive for local innovators? Rume Ophi (@RumeOphi) welcomes the CBN’s move towards stronger oversight and local accountability. But Busha’s Laolu (@samuel_biyi) argues that fully reserved stablecoin issuers have a different risk profile from banks and should not face disproportionate capital requirements. Two perspectives. One major question: How does Nigeria protect consumers without stifling indigenous stablecoin innovation? Our full breakdown: coinafrica.co/cbn-stablecoin… #Stablecoins #Busha #NigeriaCrypto

A lot of young Nigerians are uninformed but want their silly opinion out there on social media. Crypto is not ban by the CBN and it has nothing to do with you trading.

Nigeria just told Tether and Circle: come home, or go home. The CBN released its stablecoin rules on Thursday. Here is what matters: → Dollar stablecoin issuers need a Nigerian company + ₦15bn capital → Naira stablecoin issuers need ₦10bn → Wallets, custody, conversion, P2P: ₦1bn, on top of SEC capital → 1:1 reserves. Redemption by the next business day. No yield. → Algorithmic stablecoins are banned → No offshore exemption. A foreign licence won't be enough. Existing operators get 180 days to apply once the rules take effect. Register within 30 days. Report within 60. Miss the deadline, and you stop operating. This is a door opening, not closing. One of Africa's largest crypto markets now has a rulebook. But here's the question nobody is asking: No crypto exchange in Nigeria holds a full SEC @SECNigeria licence today. So will we have licensed stablecoin issuers… with no fully licensed exchanges to distribute them? The rules allow CBN-licensed distributors. The gap is timing. Whoever secures CBN + SEC approval first controls the market. If you're a platform eyeing Nigeria, the 180-day window is your entry plan. Let's talk. Source: CBN Regulations (Nov 5th 2026)
