Indonesia is an underappreciated gem in history as well. The Dutch attempted reconquest, Vietnam War as a screen against communist takeover (Indo had the largest non-ruling cmnst party globally IIRC), then the failed coup by cmnsts and RW military strongman takeover, in 25 years.

If this is the reason (and I highly doubt it), it's immeasurably stupid. With good reason there's traditionally (and certainly still is) a divide between agents and assets. Islamists are best at monitoring Islamists, but that doesn't mean you hand over the agency to Islamists.

The Kingsflame festival is a celebration of over a thousand years of English history.
We’ll be honouring our Celtic, Saxon, Norman and Medieval roots through storytelling, traditional crafts, the clash of steel, and enchanting performances that keep these traditions alive.
And at the centre of it all stands the Kingsflame, an 8 metre tall pyre commemorating the 1100th anniversary of the founding of England, and the ancient fire that still burns in the English spirit.
Follow us here to keep up to date with the Kingsflame festival, and head to the link in the reply to sign up to our email list.
Last minute reminder that I'll be speaking at this event in Stevenage tomorrow with @Nina_Power_
Anyone in the area who thinks they could make it, it would be great to see you there!

The argument between Meds and Nords was fairly amicably settled long ago. Even Nordicists were content to credit virtues to the Meds without detracting from others. We're cursed to go around in circles forever asking questions that have already been answered.
