A year ago, I said Mississippi and Louisiana could be competitive with real investment. Turns out, I was right.
Now the country is talking about @scott_colom in Mississippi, while @jamieforlouisiana came within 25,000 votes in Louisiana.
I made the case directly to DNC Chair Ken Martin in April, after raising the same concerns on @joyannreid.
The Deep South doesn’t lack voters. It lacks investment.
Maybe it’s time national leadership started listening to Black folks on the ground who know what they’re talking about.

Jon Ossoff had $100 million in Georgia. Jamie Davis raised $7 million in Louisiana.
What could Black candidates across the South accomplish with even half that investment? Georgia is proof of the results that become possible with investment.

Gary Chambers, of Louisiana, deserves recognition for the years he has been organizing and advocating for the Black community to exercise their democratic right to vote and self determination. In this political moment Stacey Abrams , Charles Blow, Roland Martin, Senate candidate Angie Nixon have been recognized for engaging the Black vote in the South which was the catalyst of this “Blue” wave. The behavior we are seeing from Haley Stevens is entirely unsurprisingly given that she called my boss to get me fired in 2022 after I endorsed Andy Levin in the Primary.🤷🏽
