We mistake assumptions for facts. We confuse fear with intuition. We turn one bad experience into a belief about who we are. And before we realize it, we’re no longer responding to reality. We’re responding to a version of reality we created ourselves. Not every thought deserves to be believed. Not every feeling represents the truth. What’s the point of building a life you never stop long enough to enjoy? We’re always chasing something. The next win. The next opportunity. The next level. Pay attention to who’s in your corner. Not just when you’re winning. Not just when things are easy. But when the pressure hits, the doubt creeps in, and the weight gets heavy. The right people challenge you when you need it. They believe in the vision when nobody else can see it. And sometimes, they carry a little of the weight when you can’t carry it all yourself. We spend so much time trying to become stronger on our own that we forget — who you surround yourself with is part of who you become. Choose your corner wisely. Confidence isn’t believing you’re always going to win. That’s not confidence. That’s certainty. Real confidence is knowing you can fail. Get rejected. Lose something you gave everything to. Watch the plan fall apart. And still walk away knowing exactly who you are. Too many people let results decide their worth. They feel unstoppable when they win and question everything when they don’t. But if an outcome can change how you see yourself, your confidence was never really yours. The result can humble you. 2026 Coastal Plain League Coach of the Year. I’ve never coached for awards or recognition. I coach because I genuinely love it. I love competing, I love leading, and I love having the opportunity to be a small part of these guys’ journeys. There are a lot of long days, late nights, tough decisions, conversations, wins, losses and moments in coaching that most people will never see. To be recognized for something I’ve poured so much of myself into is something I’m extremely proud of and will never take for granted. Just really thankful for the journey and everyone who has been a part of it. What a ride. There are seasons you remember because of the wins, and there are seasons you remember because of the people you shared them with. This one gave me both. A franchise-record season. And for the second time in three years, CPL Champions. 🏆🏆 But what I’ll remember most is this group. The fight. The belief. The way we continued to show up for one another when things weren’t easy. This team could have folded more than once. Instead, they kept fighting, kept believing, and kept finding a way. Those moments represented exactly who we were all summer. Six seasons in Wilmington have taught me that championships aren’t built in one night. They’re built through standards, relationships, trust, and a group of people willing to put something bigger than themselves first. I couldn’t be prouder of our players, coaches, staff, organization, and everyone who supported us along the way. But Wilmington has become so much more than a place I come to coach baseball every summer. Over six years, this city has become a part of my life and a part of who I am. The relationships, the memories, the people who have welcomed me and supported us year after year. Those are the things that will stay with me long after the wins and championships.
