#Justice: Amb @martin_ngoga said that more than 1,000 genocide suspects remain at large, stressing that accountability is essential as ageing witnesses, diminishing evidence & the deaths of survivors risk further delaying justice for victims of the #1994GenocideagainsttheTutsi.

🎙️”After more than three decades of international judicial engagement, we have reached a point where the future of the Mechanism and the preservation of its legacy must be settled. The decisions taken now will have consequences long after the institution itself has closed. Rwanda sincerely hopes that the Security Council and the General Assembly will listen to the wishes of survivors and give due weight to the views of the country whose history archives preserve. We hope to bring this chapter of international justice to a dignified and meaningful conclusion by transferring the #ICTR archives to Rwanda, where the crimes were committed, and where the survivors live. The Tribunal was established to serve justice. Its closure should serve that same purpose.” - Ambassador @martin_ngoga at the 21 Oct | @UN General Assembly Debate on the Report of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. 🔗Read statement via tinyurl.com/3njmv6vm

"Whatever you do, wherever you are, don't waste time. Learn, work, and make the effort to understand what is right and what is wrong. Do what is right, and avoid what is wrong. Keep building yourself as time goes on. This requires discipline, self-control, and a clear understanding of what you are doing. And it has to be consistent. You cannot be disciplined at night and then lose that discipline during the day. You have to keep at it. At your age, this is when your life can take one direction or another. You can come out of these years having built yourself into a better person, or the opposite. Things move very fast at this stage of life. You can either build yourself or destroy yourself. It's never too late. Even when you realise that you have lost something along the way, perhaps because you were carried away by emotions or the easy things in life, and you lost your way, whenever you come to your senses, remember that there is still time to turn things around and build a better life. Don't give up and say it is too late, that the damage has already been done. Even when things have gone too far, they can still be put right. Never give up." #Rwanda hosting @F1 is no overnight success. It reflects decades of rebuilding, brick by brick, since 1994.
#Rwanda hosting @F1 is no overnight success. It reflects decades of rebuilding, brick by brick, since 1994. Under President Kagame’s leadership, securing a 10-year deal for the African Grand Prix (coming in the early 2030s) is about more than motorsport. It symbolizes how far we have come and where we aspire to go. It’s proof of a nation rising with safety, confidence, and ambition. 🇷🇼

It urged countries to turn their commitments into action, including by completing negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) annex to the WHO Pandemic Agreement. newtimes.co.rw/article/39646…

“It is an honour and privilege for Rwanda to be chosen as a destination in the Formula One calendar. What brought us together is a shared conviction that Africa has the potential to elevate the quality of motorsports as a global and elite discipline. Integrating African markets with global sports franchises and competitions offers transformative opportunities. Yet, if we have to be honest with ourselves, this cross-border connection has existed for a long time, just not in Africa’s favour. The message for all of us is simple: sports is a great equalizer, but we have to be intentional about delivering this promise. Rwanda is happy and excited to be part of a journey that will change how Africa is perceived in the world of sports. We want to contribute, not just participate, and this new chapter in motorsports starts today" President Kagame | Formula 1 African Grand Prix Announcement

“We appreciate the United Nations continued commitment to remembrance, education and genocide prevention. Thirty two years later after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, in which more than one million people were killed, we must ask, What have we actually learned? And how are those lessons shaping our actions today?” Rwanda’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Martin Ngoga at the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly. #RBANews
