From my understanding it’s actually the opposite. They’re safe because the companies own the accounts and they’re foreign. They aren’t the ones receiving the money directly from platforms. They can stay as independent contractors without a need to QR.

The BIR thing is cooked. Majority of corpo vtubers are contractors, hence they'd probably need to follow the same rule. Any Filipino vtubers, may it be corpo or indie, are most likely affected. Deadline for compliance is also at Oct31st. Hopefully they revise this cuz this is bad

Drug testing wasn’t bad per se. It was the fact that they included weed which is recreationally legal in a lot of other countries. This made it that a lot of international players and teams no longer wanted to come. I had a GAB issued esports promoters license for a while 😆

The last time someone brought up niche internet things to the government was when they tried to “legitimize” esports in the Philippines. Do you guys know what happened there? - esports events required drug testing even for intl players - govt gets a cut of all profits 1/?

If you’re vtubing as hobby there’s absolutely no need to register to BIR. If you’re doing content creator work with the INTENT to monetize I highly recommend registering as a freelancer, BUT holding off from posting the doxing QR ⤵️

Also donations are considered business income depending on your line of work. As a streamer it falls under business income and not as a “donation”. So make sure you count that as income before deciding if you should register or not ⤵️

If you do register, get the 8% under 3M. It’s really good because it’s also hard to actually justify things like games and consoles as costs if you get audited plus there’s less work to do with the fixed 8%. Corp is also good but has pros / cons, pro being having a company name.
