Our digital health godfather is gone.😢
“At their core, LLMs are not simply computational tools; they are cognitive partners, amplifying human thought by enhancing our capacity to explore, iterate, and reflect.”

For a human character to fully disclose its truly exceptional qualities, one needs the good fortune to observe its actions through the span of long years
If these actions are stripped of all selfishness, if these actions function according to the principle of matchless generosity, if it is made absolutely clear that these actions were done for no reward whatsoever, but rather that they made a visible mark upon the world – only then can we say, without the risk of being wrong, that before us stands an absolutely unforgettable human character

.@JohnNosta was my friend, mentor and confidant. A relationship that spans 26 years -- too short a window. His passing is a deep personal loss and leaves too many unfinished conversations.
The day before he died, we spoke about the future of human cognition. As always, John challenged assumptions, welcomed disagreement and opened possibilities that deserved more thought. His curiosity was matched by his generosity in helping others develop their own thinking. We exchanged throughts about his speaking at the @MarfanFdn 2027 Conference, where we were planning a fireside chat about The Borrowed Mind.
Our conversations moved freely across science, AI, faith, family, our children and the power of words. I will miss his counsel, friendship and the questions that stayed with me long after we spoke.
This @medikalife tribute honors his life and the many people he encouraged to think more deeply. My heart is with Amy, his children and family and all who loved him.

Coming to Audible Around Thanksgiving: “Healing the Sick Care System: Why People Matter!”
After spending eight consecutive weeks among Amazon’s #1 Top New Releases in health-related categories, I’m delighted to share that the audiobook is nearing completion, with release anticipated around Thanksgiving. Narrated by the author and featuring an original musical score, it brings a new dimension to the book’s message.
For those who have read the book, I invite you to experience its message in a new way. For those discovering it for the first time, I hope you’ll listen, reflect and join a growing movement to make health care more human.
At its heart is a simple conviction: People matter. Healers and those seeking healing are why the health system exists. Innovation must serve humanity, with empathy guiding how we care, connect and advance health.
My hope is that listeners will find not only inspiration but also a reason to act. A more compassionate health system begins with each of us.
As with every edition, all author royalties support health charities.

Medical innovation has little meaning if the people who need it most cannot access or benefit from its advances. Patients and caregivers must be more than participants in research and recipients of care. Their lived experiences, needs and expectations should help shape the direction of science, clinical trials and healthcare delivery.
On October 29, I look forward to joining patient advocates, scientific leaders and health innovators at the Galien Patient Summit in New York to explore how we can turn that principle into meaningful action.
This year's Summit will also introduce the Prix Galien Patient First Award, honoring Michael J. Fox and recognizing initiatives that place patients at the center of medical progress.
The goal is not simply to give patients a voice. It is to ensure their voices influence decisions, reduce barriers to care and help innovation deliver on its promise to improve lives.
“No decision for me without me.” That should be more than an aspiration. It should be how health care works.

AI in health is advancing faster than many health systems can absorb its potential.
@TCLawry's 2nd edition of AI in Health asks the question that matters: Are we prepared to lead what comes next?
Greater intelligence becomes better care only when people are prepared to lead. Lawry has penned a great book to guide industry leaders.
