I'm glad there's a path to being a professional for d3 athletes, but d3 should not be about maximizing those opportunities. I know this creates a wedge between the watchers and the practitioners, but it's a tension I'd rather live in than resolve.

I think our 4 in 5 system works best for what Division III is all about. D3 provides opportunities for all kinds of students (including older ones) and isn't in danger of being overrun with financial incentives or abuse of exemptions. What we have largely works. #d3hoops
I don't know if the D1/D2 age-based eligibility model ("5 in 5") is right or wrong for D3.
But I agree with everything Stephanie (@UEC_Commish) says here.
Division III is different for a reason...a great reason. Just because Division I and II went to the new model is not a good enough reason to adopt it. Moving to it has to be because it complements and furthers the core philosophy of Division III.

No. 1 thing learned covering #d3hoops: be honest. Don't be mean or petty, but if you have reasonable doubts, express them. The worst that happens is someone succeeds beyond your expectations. And you'd have to be pretty insecure to get upset by that.

Maryville (Tenn.) is leaving the SAA to return to the CCS next fall, for the 2027-28 season. The school joins the list of members leaving the SAA. #d3hoops

Something to remember when the #d3hoops MBB preseason poll comes out in the near future: there are like 6-8 teams, maximum, who are sure-fire, definite Top 25 caliber teams coming into the season. 80% of everyone's ballot is educated guessing, at best.
