I’m writing this to clarify what actually happened for everyone who has asked me about the situation, as well as for those who have called me a cheater. Mera Mera: 6-1. No issues with anyone, no warnings. Finals: 9-1. I had no issues with anyone except one player who accused me of slow play (I was playing Kaido, he was playing Boa) because I won in extra time. I’m not going to get into that discussion, as it has nothing to do with the Don cheating allegations anyway. By the day of Top 32, I was clearly very tired. Top 32: My first match was on stream, with two judges at the table and the head judge watching the stream. During the match, I started my turn at 9 Don, used King’s effect to go up to 10, then after playing a card and DON!!-ing, I activated King’s effect again. Both the judges and my opponent immediately pointed out that I had already used the effect. I realized my mistake, apologized, and received a warning. The game ended and I won. Top 16: The head judge watching the stream warned me that another mistake about Don would result in a game loss. The match started, we were 1-1, and time was running out. I was trying to play faster. I had both King and Kaido on the field, played Linlin, and instead of resolving Kaido’s and King’s effects correctly, I ramped as if I had two Kaidos and no Kings on the field. The result was one fewer Don overall, but one extra active Don: 4 active Don instead of 3. Before I even had a couple of seconds to stop and think about what I had just done, the judge immediately stepped in and gave me a game loss. Everyone is free to believe that both the Top 32 and Top 16 mistakes were intentional. I can’t control what people think of me. But honestly, if I really were “one of the biggest cheaters in Italy,” as someone described me, I think I would have been a little smarter about it. Since the Finals, I’ve only played one other tournament, in Prague, where I made Top 4 without any issues of this kind. I received only one warning for miscommunication. That’s what actually happened. I want to thank everyone who supported me throughout this situation and encouraged me to write this post.
