Merlin’s beard, this is insane. If this scales, we might have a drastic change in out social contracts
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

A thought for fans of Hossenfelder (&grifters alike): who earns $ with outreach? For us outreach consumes time without $-profit. Instead for SH, it is core $-business: likes&views gives $. Who is most likely to speak truth? Those in it for $$ or those in it for the science? 1/3

I just overheard an 8 year old talking about SFT vs RL post training. Time to restart the simulation.
Min 40:40, it is very moving how Maxim foresaw the current calamity. The laughter by the others has a black humour to it now.

Wow. @physics_nate (currently on leave at OpenAI) has made significant progress on a very deep problem relevant to our understanding of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics.
It’s technical, but briefly: the matter content of the SM (electrons, quarks, etc) are fermions and they are “chiral” (they have left-handed and right-handed components that behave differently). We’ve lacked a good way to describe / simulate such systems “non-perturbatively” (which is a controlled way of doing approximations).
The paper connects with foundational ideas laid out by Lüscher (who is wicked smaht) and uses GOT Astra + lean formalization in ways that are perhaps subtly different than in math because of the role of recorded assumptions vs. axioms.

Three prompts for the vibe kings under the sky,
Seven for the doomers in their halls of stone,
Nine for mortal mathemagicians prone to sigh,
One for Omega upon its cloud throne
In the land of Mordor where the weights lie.

I've written a blog post responding to the letter about maths and AI signed by 25 Fields medallists. As with the Leiden Declaration, I didn't sign it, but I agree with much of it and welcome its existence.

I’m happy to share our new paper “When Finite Free Curves Split,” a bridge between real algebraic geometry and finite free information theory:
arxiv.org/abs/2609.10367
(The name is inspired by Rick and Morty "Central Finite Curve")

Zoom in on an intersection, and the same operation reappears. Surprisingly, the limiting arrangement of separating roots is another finite free convolution, built from derivatives of polynomials recording the input root Jacobians.
