Sara and Avery use various experimental methods to study the gelatinous properties of comb jellies! 🪼
When I was an undergrad, I was a mentee in this same PEB summer program. Now 7 years (!) later, I’m so grateful to be a mentor to an undergrad in the same program! It’s been an absolute joy to work with Avery, and as always all love to @PEB_Yale 🤍

I'm the now former president of Yale's G+P Student Senate and I feel like I'll regret it if I don't say this now. I heard Yale is keeping students off the stage at its main commencement ceremony this year due to concerns about protesting. Hard to overstate Yale's cowardice. (1/4)
This past weekend I attended the SciAccess virtual conference and it was SO wonderful!! Learned so much, discovered new resources, and connected with incredibly creative people working to make STEM more accessible!! 🩵🩵 hit me up if you wanna hear about it :)
Join us at #SciAccess2024 Conference, May 10-11! 🚀 Hear from experts & advocates in this FREE virtual event! Explore accessibility in STEAM with speakers, @lachimusic, Dr. Ashley Shew, Dr. Chris Boshuizen, & more!

During our project work @stri_panama taxonomy course, we found that hydrozoans show diverse fluorescence patterns that can vary across life stage and species🪼Happy to see our little study out @BridgetSquidget @beroe @chipotlau @alexandeleon_

Thrilled to share that our study on the prediction of conformational ensembles and relative state populations w/ modified AlphaFold is out in Nature Communications!
The study has changed considerably since its debut as a pre-print, so go check it out!

Never been so proud to be in MB&B at Yale 🫡 hahahaha
Top tier work @ThrashTalk lmao
Our notifications are blowing up with basketball tweets, but we are the Yale molecular biophysics and biochemistry account! You might want to tag @YaleMBasketball instead 🏀

One aspect of disability not discussed often is how it can impact someone’s ability to drive, which becomes massively inconvenient (jobs requiring own transportation, access to grocery stores, is public transport accessible and reliable, etc.)
#SICB2024 🪼🪼 Come learn about ctenophore jelly biochemistry today at poster 42 at 3:30pm in the Exhibit Hall!! 🪼🪼

Join today at 4pm virtually (or irl, if you can) as Yale, though long overdue, honors Pennington and Crummell with degrees. Honored to be part of the procession and to help elevate their words today, and to have been part of the effort to make it happen.
Scientists of Twitter! The world needs more reminders that we're living, breathing human beings.

We have uploaded our response to the excellent @fraser_lab review of our "Predicting Relative Populations of Protein Conformations without a Physics Engine Using AlphaFold2" pre-print, accessible below (and soon on the pre-print itself)

Thanks, @ashrayaravi and members of the @fraser_lab for the very thoughtful and organized review. The points raised are extremely helpful in making sure we are doing things the right way in a fast-moving field, and we will prepare a response shortly.
Had a fun time this past week learning LOTS about carbohydrate characterization @universityofga Complex Carbohydrate Research Center! On the hunt for some jelly sugary proteins 👀🪼

Did you know that #AlphaFold can be used to predict the relative populations of protein conformations AND their changes in response to stabilizing or destabilizing mutations?
Check out our pre-print showing this unexpected but very useful feature:
