Hard to believe it’s more than 8 years since I created the #IronworkThursday hashtag. It’s been brilliant seeing all your amazing #metalwork favourites and discoveries here.
I hope our metallurgical conversation can continue where the sky is blue (and atmosphere less toxic)…

Sewage, wastewater and agricultural pollution are choking England’s waters. 🌊
Chalk streams, among the world’s rarest habitats, are also under threat. With 85% located in the UK, we bear an international responsibility to protect them. 💚🌎

If I’m wrong and Covid turns out to be “no biggie”…the worst that’s happened is I’ve had cleaner air & worn a mask in public. Absolutely no harm has been done to me.
If YOU are wrong - you’ve potentially damaged every system in your body because you didn’t “feel” like masking

If it's warm and sunny today, that's an example of 'St Luke's little summer' - a traditional name for a period of fine weather around the feast of St Luke, 18 October. The sunlight of summer, falling on the glowing colours of autumn.

How To Avoid Catching Covid While Flying
"Many of us know this already, but it’s worth recalling: Research has found that wearing a well-fitting, high-quality mask like an N95 or KN95 lowers your chances of picking up COVID-19 by 83%, according to CDC "

This story is one of the most disturbing I've ever covered. It's about how the views of a deeply weird ideological sect affected science, medicine and the media, with devastating impacts on patients. Please read and pass on. This horror has to stop. theguardian.com/commentisfre…
Why is the @NHSEngland policy on Covid vaccination so wildly out of line with the USA where *everyone* 6 months or older is being advised to get vaccinated?!
CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine to protect against severe COVID-19 illness, hospitalization, and death. Read the latest on CDC’s 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine recommendation in @CDCMMWR: bit.ly/mm7337e2

As #OCDAwarenessWeek comes to an end, let’s remember that OCD is not being tidy, clean or liking order. It isn’t a personality trait, a quirk or cool. OCD is a debilitating condition which consumes a person’s mind and life through persistent intrusive thoughts and compulsions.

ALT An orange mindmap with the middle circle saying OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) with arrows to eight smaller circles. These read: obsessions (thoughts, images, urges) and compulsive behaviours; obsessions are unwanted, persistent, anxiety provoking and distressing; themes may include harm, contamination, sexual intrusive thoughts etc.
It would be fantastic to see these glowing colours projected on to some of the stone #Mithras reliefs from #HadriansWall and elsewhere
#FrescoFriday - The tauroctony scene from the Mithraeum of Capua (Italy), 2nd century AD. Mithras is depicted slaying the white bull with the torchbearers, Cautes and Cautopates, on either side. A big snake is creeping over the ground while a dog leaps against the bull.

Some weeks #IronworkThursday is a bit quieter than others - but everyone’s images of #metalwork, historic or modern, are always very welcome!
#IronworkThursday—haven't seen this hashtag for a while, but here are the wonderful "hoppy" balustrades and fanciful entrance to the Hop Exchange in Southwark St, London, worth visiting just for the ironwork alone victorianweb.org/victorian/a…
