On behalf of the SDPOA, we send our deepest condolences to the family of CHP Officer Brian Liles, and the California Highway Patrol. Officer Liles was involved in a fatal traffic collision on September 28, 2026. Officer Liles dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community with honor, courage, and selflessness. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
We urge our law enforcement brothers and sisters, and the greater community, to donate to the CAHP Credit Union fundraiser to help support Officer Liles' wife and two children. Click the link to donate.

Former SDPD Detective Greg Haisan’s daughter, Alexa, is currently battling stage IV metastatic melanoma. At just 33 years old, Alexa is undergoing an extensive course of treatment, including surgery, immunotherapy, and specialized medical care.
The ongoing treatment, recovery, medical-related travel, lodging, and lost wages have placed a significant financial burden on Alexa and her family.
We encourage our members to consider supporting the Haisan family during this difficult time. Any donation, regardless of the amount, can make a meaningful difference. Those unable to donate can also help by sharing the fundraiser and keeping Alexa and her family in their thoughts and prayers. Click the link to donate or share now.

Today, we remember the commitment and ultimate sacrifice made by Officer Tonahill while serving our community.
Today, we remember one of the most tragic days in our nation’s history. On September 11, 2001, thousands of innocent people perished. The lives of countless families, communities, and first responders were forever changed.
We honor the bravery of the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to save others. Their courage and sacrifice embody the true spirit of service and resilience that defines America.
Though more than two decades have passed, the memory of that day remains with us. We stand together in remembrance of all who were lost, and we reaffirm our commitment to never forget their legacy.
May we continue to find strength in unity, hope in healing, and resolve in honoring our heroes.

The SDPOA began contract negotiations with the City in late November ‘25. To date, the SDPOA has met with the city numerous times, however, a contract that gives officers a reason to stay with SDPD has not been reached. The City will continue to lose officers to other police departments that have better benefits, pay, and working conditions. The SDPOA commends the officers who remain with SDPD while we continue to fight on your behalf. The SDPOA refuses to agree to takeaways or any reduction in current pay or benefits. Our officers deserve more and so do San Diegans. A decrease in staffing means an increase in wait times when you call 911.
