We are pleased to confirm that @TheGreenParty has won our second #Southend City Councillor in this year's local elections.
Our candidate for Leigh, Stuart Allen was elected with 58% of the vote and joins Richard Longstaff as our second Green councillor representing Leigh.
Introducing your newest Greens elected to Southend-on-Sea City Council, Anita and Kay. 💚
Anita joins Green Councillors Richard and Stuart, for a now-complete Green team in #Leigh ward. Kay is our first Green elected to the #Chalkwell ward.

Both Anita and Kay bring decades of experience in how good councils function and how local business is done.
Residents in Leigh and Chalkwell rejected the politics of division and blame, and have elected outspoken and committed community champions who will work hard for you.
Our Green team on the City Council has now grown to four, and work has already begun on pressing ahead with the priorities that matter to our community. Follow this page for updates.

We can’t discount how important #Southend’s nighttime economy is as a key attraction for visitors and a significant employer of local people.
But most of our #nightlife venues have now closed, including Talk and Chameleon nightclubs, and recently Ravens, and Revolution bar.
