Powerful learning happened in this lesson. Such a great idea.

Today I got the children to think about scale, proportion and shape of the U.K. They first of all had to draw what they thought England and Wales look like. They then had to improve their map drawing skills once they could see the real map. The improvement was staggering. #Year4

Honestly, I cannot remember living through darker times than these. But children's books have helped kids to survive and rebuild the world before, and I think they still can. Escape, connection, understanding, hope - books can give them all of that. theguardian.com/childrens-bo…

Can children's books help build a better world?

Author SF Said on how almost all the world’s problems come down to ‘us and them’ – and how children’s books can knock down the barriers

How do you get kids to love reading? Show them that YOU love reading! Make books central to everything you do. Always share books, talk about books, help them find new books to enjoy. And read to them every day - just 10 minutes a day can change their lives forever! #literacy

A busy day back at school! We’ve had lots of fun exploring the FIDES values and revisiting some number skills. What a privilege to teach 30 little children every year. 🌸🍊 @DevonshireInf

What an amazingly energising way to start the new term with ‘The Philosophy Man’. Great hearing colleagues buzzing with ideas throughout the training. We are looking forward to exploring the resources over the coming year as we develop P4C @DevonshireInf #philosophy4children

'Pirates' was the theme this morning over at Dorchester Youth Centre. The kids that took part all have additional needs and we get together through the Artz+ organisation to give their parents a breather. Did I join in? What do you think? 😂👍 darrellwakelam.com

Couldn’t resist these little gold metal pots in Wilkos. 30p each. These will sit on my desk for children to come and explore and use as and when they want.

For anyone who still hasn’t seen these amazing colouring pencils, they are still on offer at ASDA for 2.65 a pack. They have been my most used and requested item of stationery in class the last few years. So vital every classroom has them. Grabbed me a few more packs to replace.
