I think more of us need to recognize that beauty being rooted in misogyny also means that prior to transition we are often times already told that despite that make up, we look like a pig with it on. We are not all allotted pretty privilege, which is then weaponized against us.
Idk maybe be mad at that aspect of misogyny and not at trans men considering trans women will ultimately also be on the same end of that dialogue as we were, and still are. Do I want that trans woman to be told she looks like a painted up pig? No. Not anymore than I want to.
As a general statement: I do still wear makeup as a trans masc gender queer lil fuck, but very rarely because when I still presented to my peers as a “cis” woman I was ridiculed mercilessly for not being pretty enough and now no matter how good I feel, that fear is there
