Great seeing president emeritus @danaghoyt , @the_tsus vice chancellor/academic & health affairs @NancyBrickhouse & Prof Jill Vaughan. Drs. Hoyt & Brickhouse will visit our Conroe campus today & Dr. Hoyt will see the fruit of her vision for medical ed. She started something big!

It’s been so fun to enjoy campus with my son and grandsons this week. University life is a family affair!

While campus is quiet for fall break this week, I enjoyed welcoming future Bearkats and their families to campus this past weekend for Saturday@Sam. Choosing a university is an important decision, and I’m glad they spent time exploring what Sam Houston has to offer.

Elliott and I enjoyed welcoming Staff Senate to the Smith-Lenamon House tonight. I’m grateful for these colleagues and their commitment to our university.

Thrilling weekend at my alma mater @utknoxville. Great to see dear friend senior VC/VP of the UT Institute of Ag @KC4UTIA, hear & see the fabulous marching band, & get the FB win. Thanks, again, @UTCCI Dean @josephmazer for hosting. Thanks to UT for a transformative education.

It was an honor to accept the Donald G. Hileman Distinguished Alumni Award from @UTCCI Dean @josephmazer. I earned two degrees from UT Knoxville & learned from some of the best professors I’ve ever known. Love that Dean Mazer & his team have taken the college to a new level.

Happy birthday to my son, John Michael. Wonderful man, husband, dad, son, fisherman, skater, jeweler, handyman, comedian, and occasional philosopher. #ProudMom

U.S. News & World Report ranked SHSU No. 14 for Best Value for In-State Students and No. 19 for Social Mobility among Regional Universities West. I’m proud of the faculty and staff whose work helps make a degree more affordable and opens doors for our students.

Grandson Kason showed up to Saturday’s game with a balloon animal he made and a picture he drew and colored to give our mascot, Sammy. He (and I) appreciate how well Sammy engages with fans. Kids love our Bearkat!

This was a cool play to watch, and it set the tone for the rest of the game. Congratulations @BearkatsFB for giving us a Homecoming thriller!

What a thrill to visit with the incomparable Frank Parker yesterday! He shared insights from his many years as Student Affairs VP in a Fireside Chat with Dr. Dannie Moore, our current VPSA, at the SGA 40th reunion celebration. Lots of wisdom in that room!

The stories of our honorees at tonight’s Distinguished Alumni Gala are a reminder of the impact of their accomplishments and their lasting connection with Sam Houston. So inspiring! Congratulations!

Starting Homecoming with Blaze the Trail was so much fun. Can’t wait for parade tomorrow evening. New and old traditions…bring ‘em on!

Proud to celebrate our faculty at tonight’s Academic Awards Dinner. Their dedication to teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and service strengthens SHSU and creates opportunities for students. Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees!

So much fun to have @congressmanpetesessions celebrate our opening game in the new stadium with Mayor Russell & Tish Humphrey. Loved introducing him to my son’s family, too. Our leaders support Bearkats in the classroom and on the field!

Thanks to all who came to celebrate our first game at home in our rockin’ stadium! It was a party that @BobbyWilliamsAD & I have been excited to share with you. Wanted a W, but saw a lot of growth in @BearkatsFB. Looking forward to a good season!

Stopped by the stadium one more time before tomorrow’s game. Grateful to the people who’ve worked so hard to get it ready. Tomorrow we celebrate our student athletes and our space! #GoBearkats!

NYC is a special city where heroes of all types showed courage, patriotism & love for others on September 11. #NeverForget

Our Student Affairs leadership & I enjoyed hearing from our Greek Life student leaders and learning more about the work they are doing to lead and serve their organizations. Proud of their commitment to our Bearkat community!

This Saturday, we bring Bearkat football home to Bowers Stadium as we take on Tulsa. Our team has been putting in the work, and I’m looking forward to a great season and having the Bearkats back where they belong. See you at Bowers!
