I now have two sources close to Susie Wiles who claim that Trump is preparing a vast misinformation campaign for November 4th, built around conspiracy theories alleging widespread election fraud. The plan? Declare victory regardless of the results, accuse Democratic officials of manufacturing ballots overnight, claim voting machines were secretly manipulated, and demand that Republican candidates refuse to concede. In this scenario, the goal isn’t to prove fraud. It’s to convince millions of Americans that any election Republicans lose must have been stolen.

Dear Christians, If you are sincere in your declarations that you love Muslims but oppose their religion, go learn how to speak with them in a respectful and appropriate manner, and begin engaging them with real love, not just words that you say are love directed at them. 1/

I forgot -- there's a moment near the end of the books where Tolkien is even more explicit.
“…He deserves death.” “Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”

Rare win from Brian Kilmeade and Fox News.
There are still some republicans that have a spine. This interview is worth watching. It is between Rachel Campos-Duffy and Brian Kilmeade, both conservative commentators. Rachel: Yesterday, the president said maybe it’s time for an election, a new leader in Ukraine, because he keeps blowing up these refineries after the president said, “Please don’t do that,” especially before midterms. He keeps doing it, and it’s hurting President Trump’s administration, who’s been very generous towards him and his war. Brian: The president got ticked off because Zelenskyy came out and said, “Do not buy 500 million tons of diesel, which is in violation, I thought, of the bill that they just signed, Lindsey Graham’s bill, that if you buy any energy from Russia, you’re going to get sanctioned and tariffed. Are we going to tariff ourselves? So, I have no idea. So Zelenskyy’s frustrated because now all this money is going to flow into Russia, who started this whole war unprovoked. They are the bad guys, and there is no way Zelenskyy turned down any plausible deal. In fact, since that time, when they told him he was going to lose the Donbas, he has gained back portions of the Donbas. Rachel: Are you saying that there were not peace efforts? Brian: There was no plausible, practical peace effort that Vladimir Putin would participate in effectively that would end this war. There’s one person who’s responsible. Vladimir Putin. That is it. And he’s getting his ass kicked. Rachel: There was a peace deal that was, I think, Turkey was trying to broker it, and Boris Johnson advised Zelenskyy not to take that deal. Brian: It doesn’t matter. I don’t know what Boris Johnson’s doing now. Is he in a retirement home? Rachel: No, but I think that there’s a reason why the president is buying the diesel from Russia, and that’s because Zelenskyy keeps blowing up the refineries. Brian: Can you blame him? That’s the war machine that’s killing his people, that bombs apartment buildings. Rachel: But he is dependent on us, and the president said, “Don’t do that.” Brian: The diesel fuel got stopped because Iran was blowing up the Gulf states’ oil and their refineries. And now all of a sudden there’s new emphasis on Russia. But for me, the way they innovated drone technology in order to take out what is fueling the Russian war machine is phenomenal. They’ll be writing about this in war journals forever. Ukrainians have modernized modern war before our very eyes. Rachel: But I’m not so sure that’s a positive, Brian. I mean, there are 30,000 young men on each side that are dying every single month. Brian: Vladimir Putin. Rachel: Every single month. We should not be practicing drone technology and using these kids as guinea pigs. Have you seen the videos? Brian: What kids? Rachel: The soldiers. These are young men. These are young men. Brian: Rachel, these are responses to attacks. They’re getting rocketed. Rachel: The president said he wanted peace in Ukraine. Brian: Tell Vladimir Putin! Rachel: He said he was going to do that. Well, now, because of what Volodymyr Zelenskyy is doing, we’re probably going to get peace there because President Trump is now working with Russia. Brian: It would be the biggest mistake of this administration to work with Russia. That is the modern Hitler of our generation. He is the cause of all the problems in the region, and now is helping Iran kill our guys and blow up our bases. And now, the story you pointed out to me today in The Wall Street Journal, you see that they and China are providing drones to the Houthis. China and Russia are the problem.

Historian of fascism here. This is an escalation of an attempt to normalize extreme violence, ritualize violence, militarize the country, and make violence entertaining so when they ask you to commit violence in their name, you will be ready.
Trump & Hegseth aren't just proposing to livestream an execution for people who want to watch. They're proposing to broadcast a man being shot to death, even if deserved by our system, and even if you agree with this version of the death penalty, knowing that the footage will be clipped, shared, and pushed into social media feeds. Including those of our children. The gruesome image will be everywhere. Parents will have virtually no control over whether their kids see it. Once those images are released, there is no taking them back. Hope all the parents in the Trump Admin are cool with that.

Nothing you say will ever change the fact that millenials have to work twice as hard for half as much.
This is a long post. Sorry, but I'm tired of being called a boomer, negatively. When a young person calls me a boomer and whines. I had jobs delivering papers when I was young. When I was 13, I painted plaster of paris statuettes for a company that wanted to create a little ceramic piece I made in school. I painted places for a company to re-rent. I joined the Marines but damaged my knee and got a medical/honorable discharge. I went to Job Corps in Oregon. I learned to build tri-level homes on the mountains. I was in forestry and did controlled burns and fought fires when needed. I was the polaski man in the fire line. I got my GED. I did kick boxing and re-rehabilitated my knee.I fought in the ring with black belts 3 times. I won the last time and decided I accomplished my goal. I moved on. I did all this before I was 20 years old. I found a job with an aerospace fastener company. I moved parts from one department to another. I worked my way up the chain. Did 40 years. Don't cry to me, youngsters. I did my time. I married, raised 4 kids. Yes, I'm a boomer. Just means I ran my own life and succeeded. With God, of course. I'm retired in peace.

It is funny how Pope Leo has all the influence the Christian Nationalists covet, yet it is not through the Nietzschean will to power they employ, but through the gentle and loving proclamation of the gospel.

I’m perplexed by leaders who grow harsher, more legalistic and less compassionate in their older years. It seems, at least to my understanding, to go against the grain of aging for a person walking with the Lord. Unless there is hardness of heart caused by resentment, bitterness, jealousy, perversity or the like, the aging grow in holiness marked by humility and gentleness. Fact is, we’ve seen too much sin, weakness and failure in ourselves and received too much grace and mercy to be otherwise. Think, for example, of the scene in John 8 where people are ready to stone the adulterous woman. Jesus says, OK, let the one without sin cast the first stone. And you know how the story goes. They drop those stones, one by one, and walk away starting with the older ones. Why? Because they know the length, breadth and depth of their own sins and failures. Think of James 3:13 where he draws a direct connection between wisdom and gentleness, the latter indicating not powerlessness or eroding convictions but power and conviction submitted to the control and wise restraint of the Holy Spirit. Gentleness is also fruit of the Holy Spirit. Jesus described himself as gentle. Though he was utterly sinless, he was deeply compassionate, having been tempted in all ways. Harshness, extremism and a condemning spirit are ill-fitting to the aging in Christ. I have no desire to name names or cast stones or I’m no different from those I find baffling. I just want to say we’re greatly helped by an honest and frequent examination of our own hearts to see if they are growing in tenderness and compassion or in the hardness of unresolved character issues.

So many Watergates.
People keep saying Trump term II is the most corrupt administration ever, so I built a model to find out if it was true. I took the UN's definition of corruption, turned it into eight criteria and 100 points, and scored the leaders history remembers for looting their countries: Marcos, Suharto, Mobutu, Abacha, Obiang, Putin. Then I put every president since Eisenhower on the same scale, both parties, with every exoneration counted right alongside the convictions. Nixon scored 41 and no other American President scored over a 25. Trump's second term scored a 91, which ties him with Suharto and Mobutu and puts him above Marcos and Abacha. So he is not only the most corrupt president in American history. At this pace he finishes his term level with the most corrupt rulers of the last hundred years. PSA: don't come in my comments arguing about the results if you haven't read the full article, because ignorance is a choice. Full article is up now on my Substack (link in bio) and it's free.

The TL;DR answer to how to make marriage appealing and fair to men: subjugate women.
From all the responses to my post yesterday about the significant rise in unmarried men, it’s obvious that this is a topic that fires people up. We need to make marriage more appealing and fair to men. How do we do that?

This is a really thought-provoking distinction between Catholic and Protestant views on authority. It’s very convicting to remember that Jesus left us a church … not a Bible or even the texts we call the “New Testament.”
We don't believe in Sola Scriptura, we don't have to prove our beliefs from the Bible. Jesus left us a Church, not a Bible.

The party calling everyone who opposes them a “communist” is now siding with a communist dictator.
Breaking: Trump announces the US will now be siding with North Korea and Kim Jong Un instead of the democratic South Korea. “Based on my very good relationship with Kim Jong Un, of North Korea, I am not happy with the fact that the United States has, long ago, agreed to participate in Joint Military Exercises with South Korea.”

Christian, there lay before us two great commands: we are to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves... More often than not, we're called to demonstrate our obedience to the former by daily walking out the latter....
