I love watching, learning and thinking about the parallel lives that surround us: the animals and birds. Apologies for poor iphone photos!

Any translators out there? I don’t speak bird. (I recorded this from 18” away) 😊 Black Billed #Magpie

Being given some instructions by Braveheart. 😆 An embarrassing walk this morning, being followed around by a flock of #Magpies who were convinced that I was NOT out of peanuts, but was just withholding them out of spite. 🤪

Ten past five, Braveheart time. 😆⏱️ At the riverbank, the leaves are grounded, goodbye green until May… Perhaps that’s why I love our colourful #Magpies We are all preparing for the grey months ahead.

This lonely little female Common Goldeneye was paddling along next to the path at Lake Louise yesterday. Merlin says it is uncommon to see one here. One tourist was loudly proclaiming this was a Loon, a true symbol of Canada. Oh well. 😆

Here at beautiful Lake Louise, Alberta: The Chateau, a thoughtful Clark’s Nutcracker and a Steller’s Jay. Love the white eyebrow on the Jay! 😍 #ThursJay

A master class in the “twofer”. Careful placement of peanut 1 allows for acquisition of peanut 2. #Magpies

Had a great afternoon with these young #Magpies. Note the pale grey iris and pink mouth esp on the bird in front. Displaying the peanut trophy is an important part of the process. 🏆🥜🤣

The contortions a #Magpie has to go through to snatch a peanut from the dreaded hand! Well done little guy! 😆🥜👏

☝️ I remember the sparrows, starlings, and tits used to peck the gold caps off and quoff a load of the cream on the top 👇 We still used to pour it on our cornflakes anyway - bird flu? Pah!
