We just took another major step toward finally closing Rikers Island.
By permanently closing a jail and transferring three properties to DCAS, we're moving closer to closing Rikers for good.
Our City's resources should be invested in rehabilitation, restoration, and a smaller, more humane jail system.

Basic rules of international relations:
1. The state of nature is amoral.
2. Power is the only currency.
3. But power seeks equilibrium.
Translation: everyone eventually gangs up on the bully.
Asking @AWeissmann_ and @neal_katyal: everyone's understandably focused on SCOTUS immunity ruling impact on Jan 6 case. Impact on Fla. documents case? If a judge must hold hearings, rule on what can be charged/tried, can a certain Florida judge drag that case out for years?
