Health Entomology Officer W. H. M. D. C. Wijesinghe emphasized that construction sites pose a severe threat as major breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes. Unattended concrete slabs that collect water during curing or rainfall, alongside scattered construction materials, create ideal environments for mosquitoes to multiply.
Ensure construction sites and work areas are regularly inspected. Properly store tools, clear standing water on slabs, and dispose of waste material to eliminate mosquito breeding spots and protect workers and nearby communities from dengue!

International Day of Sign Languages ๐๏ธ.
"In a disaster situation, more often than not, news is shared through a voice," says 21-year-old Praveen Waas, a Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (@SLRedCross) volunteer.
Praveen is a hearing man, born to deaf parents. He grew up watching how quickly critical information spreads during emergencies, and how easily people like his mother and father could be left out simply because messages weren't shared in ways everyone could understand. For many in the deaf community, this means uncertainty at the very moment clarity matters most.

Medical Officer of Health, Gothatuwa, Dr. C. A. V. Pathirana highlights the crucial steps to breaking the dengue mosquito life cycle. Since three out of the four stages of a mosquito's life cycle occur in water, controlling these aquatic breeding sites is far more effective and easier than combating adult mosquitoes.
Spend just 30 minutes every week inspecting the indoor and outdoor areas of your home, workplace, or factory. Clear out potential mosquito breeding grounds, standing water, and discarded items to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from dengue!
