On Oct. 21, 2012, Kateri Tekakwitha (1656–1680) became the first indigenous person in North America to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Today, we're celebrating the anniversary and offering staff and students Three Sisters Soup—
a traditional Haudenosaunee dish made by our food service team. We learned and acknowledged the complex history of her sainthood and the colonization of the Haudenosaunee during that time period.
