The Delta State Government has commenced a ₦5 billion grassroots empowerment programme targeting 100,000 small-scale business owners and other beneficiaries across the state’s 500 wards, with each beneficiary expected to receive ₦50,000.
The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), Mr Olisa Ifeajika, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Asaba, explaining that the initiative was designed to complement the administration’s investments in critical infrastructure with direct financial support to residents.
According to Ifeajika, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori directed local government councillors to facilitate the distribution, with each ward expected to reach at least 200 beneficiaries. The programme aims to support small businesses, strengthen household finances and stimulate economic activities at the grassroots.
He added that the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities for Deltans, in line with the people-centred objectives of the MORE Agenda.

If The 25 LGAs And Their Education Authorities Had A Combined Annual Personnel Emoluments Of ₦44.86 Billion Covering 25,059 Staff In 2023, I Believe That Amount Has Tripled Now And If Ukodo Still Hasn't Done Any Audit That Means Ukodo Is No Different From The Fed Government
₦30m will clear salaries in most LGAs in Nigeria?
Delta State’s 2023 personnel emoluments report says otherwise. This was before the minimum wage increment.
The 25 LGAs and their Local Government Education Authorities had a combined annual personnel emolument of ₦44.86 billion, covering 25,059 staff.
That is approximately ₦3.74 billion monthly across the 25 LGAs and their Education Authorities.
