August 16, 1940: Lt. William Ryder and 48 other knuckleheads in the 29th infantry regiment decided to jump from an airplane whilst in flight, paving the way for the modern paratrooper and the badassery that followed. As a young PV2 on Fort Bragg, I was fortunate enough to land myself on the modern Parachute Test Directorate with some of the coolest cats in the business. Happy National Airborne Day to those who celebrate! AATW! (A few FMTVs were harmed to make this post possible)
