Sequo is done, guys. 0 paying customers. Since August: ~1,000 visits, 7 signups, 0 payments. Product Hunt day added 36 visits and 0 signups. What I got wrong: I built the whole thing first and only then went looking for people who would pay for it. The next idea goes the other way: competitors, target profile, talk to them, try to pre-sell, and only then a small MVP. The competitor analysis is almost done. I'll keep sharing everything as I go. Have you ever shut down a product? And what was the sign you should have seen earlier?

Hey @grok, how many vibe-coded apps launch every day, and how many of them ever make their first $1?

can confirm. my last product got ~1,000 visits, 7 signups and 0 payments. building it took weeks, finding one person who’d pay is what I’m still figuring out

Hey @grok, why did your free plan run out in the middle of my very first prompt?

Context: fresh free account, one prompt. Grok Build worked for 36m 27s and hit the limit before it finished. Publishing is paid too, so I paid $8 to see the rest. Full test with all the numbers in my latest post

Grok Build's free plan hit the usage limit 36 minutes into my very first prompt. It wasn't even able to fit the MVP into what my plan allows, and the only one who can open the app is me. The idea: a wall where anyone types their X handle, draws a poster, and visitors pick the better of two posters to rank the feed. Plus an admin view. And what I got actually works. I drew my masterpiece, Success Guy (I'm the best designer btw), and voting works too. Ah, and of course I can't publish it without upgrading. So I paid $8 for Plus. Clicked Publish, got "Before you publish" with one more Publish button hahaha. Then just a loader… may I get some animation 😂. Done, no toast with the link, I have to click Publish again to copy it. Opened the link and my Success Guy disappeared? Preview and live run on separate databases, kind of weird but okay. Alright, I'm not arrogant, I drew him again. Now he's even more successful than before, eat it, Grok! Then the admin. Grok never told me the password, I found it only by reading the code on GitHub. At least I can change it with an env variable. Under the hood it's fine: real Postgres, normal stack, runs locally with 2 commands. So free builds the app, $8 lets other people open it. And what Grok doesn't tell you, you still find by reading the code yourself. One prompt, one run, so take it as one data point. Would you pay $8 after a free plan like this, or just move to another builder?

The wall is live, draw whatever you want and vote for the best ones: drawforfree.grok.me Success Guy needs some competition btw

I built myself a growth system for X. Now I’m following it in public for 30 days. Right now: 650 followers. Goal: 1,000 by the end of November. The system is 5 rules, all based on what worked for me in the last 3 months 👇 I’ll share the numbers every week. Bet I hit it or not?

5) Weekly review. Every Sunday I check my best and worst posts and adjust. That review is what I’ll share here.

4) A weekly rhythm. Big test posts twice a week, short takes and questions in between, a “what I learned” post on Friday. No more posting the same story 4 days in a row.

3) Findings, not plans. No more “I’m starting X” posts. They never got past 300 views for me.

2) Replies first. 15 to 30 real replies a day to accounts with 5k-50k followers. Last time I pushed replies hard, I got about 1 follower for every 4 replies.

1) One angle. I post real tests of AI tools with numbers. My best test got 4.9K views when I had 430 followers, so that’s my main thing now.

They say you can’t go viral on X with fewer than 1k followers. I had 430 when one of my posts hit 4.9K views. The same week, most of my posts barely got 200. Same account, same followers. The difference was the post, not the count. What’s the best your post did compared to your follower count?

Tech stocks dropped yesterday because investors think AI spending might have peaked. Tesla just cut its spending plan by 20%. And everyone I know is waiting for the next model to fix their problems. But what if the models we have now are the ones we’ll be building with for the next year or two? Honestly, I don’t think most of us are even close to using what current models can already do. Would you build differently if you knew no better model is coming soon?

Spent a day and found 40 potential customers for 4 people. Now the real test: will they pay for the next 10? The deal: I find your first 10 leads for free. The next 10 cost $30. 4 people have given me their product context, without which there's no way to find anyone. I asked them 2 questions: “Who is your ideal customer?” “What do people say when they first see your product?” This morning, all 4 got a doc with 10 leads and a ready first message for each. Now I’m watching 3 things: do they actually message these people, do the leads reply, and does anyone pay for the next 10... What would make you pay for the next batch after a free one?

I gave Claude this week’s news and asked what the next 10 years look like. Which year is wrong?

I'll find 10 potential customers for you for free, but the next 10 will cost $30 That’s how I’m gonna make sure people will pay for my product. Airbnb, DoorDash, Zappos, all of them did manual work before building a tool I’m not afraid to make mistakes, so I’ve already written to people, and am waiting for the results. I’ll share them here Get ready, I’ll be sliding into your DMs soon 😂

25 conversations gave me more than 3 months of building my last product. 3 months gave me 0 feedback. 25 conversations gave me the exact pain, down to the nuance. For 2 weeks, I was validating 2 ideas. The first one, growing followers, didn’t work out: people already have their own ways to do it. But while talking about it, everybody mentioned the same struggle: finding customers. So that’s what I started validating next. In every third conversation, people told me they get about a 10% reply rate on their DMs. And the hard part isn’t the first message: “I have no idea what the second message is.” “If I stop talking about them, they stop replying.” So when someone replies to your DM, do you bring up your product, or keep it about them until they ask about you?

I've been leaving 60 replies per day for 2 weeks, and it brought me ~200 new followers Everybody knows that replies are better than posts in the beginning, but I didn't take it seriously and was leaving about 5-10 per day, and they were mediocre. But since I started to find more people in my niche and try to bring them value with my replies, my followers are growing crazy! That’s about 1 new follower for every 4 replies. How many replies do you leave per day on average, and what’s your ratio?

6 AI and startup events in Poznań in the next 10 days. I recently realized that, in order to grow, I need to communicate more in person with people who are better than me at something. So I started looking, and my city turned out to be way more active than I thought. So I wonder: do only “vibe coders” show up to events like these, or are there actual experts there?
