The Frymire family’s 2026-’27 Winter Weather Forecast is calling for a wild winter with multiple big snow events and extreme cold. ❄️⛄🥶
The popular winter weather forecasts are a longtime Kentucky tradition based on a Japanese elm tree and a secret formula passed down by the late Dick Frymire of Irvington.
Dick Frymire, a folklorist and prognosticator known as the “Doctor of Barnyard Science,” created the forecasts and even appeared on The Tonight Show. He passed away in 2013, but his son J.L. Frymire and granddaughter Hannah Frymire-White have continued the annual tradition in his memory.
