On Christmas Eve, a New Jersey father shot a man inside a car, then went home and put together his kids' presents. By his own account, the only thing that annoyed him that night was a toy wagon he couldn't assemble. His name was Richard Kuklinski. His wife and kids in Dumont thought he was a successful businessman. Police called him the Iceman, because he froze one victim's body to hide when the man had died. In 1985 a federal agent named Dominick Polifrone went undercover as a mob associate to get close to him. For 18 months he met with Kuklinski and recorded him. Kuklinski asked him for pure cyanide and explained why he liked poison: "Why be messy? You do it nice and calm." On December 17, 1986, Kuklinski tested the agent's cyanide by putting it in a hamburger and feeding it to a stray dog. The dog lived. The cyanide was fake. About two hours later, police blocked the road and arrested him. He was convicted of five murders. In prison interviews he claimed more than 100. The agent who caught him said he believed maybe 15. In the video below, from HBO's The Iceman Tapes, Kuklinski tells the Christmas Eve story himself, and Polifrone describes sitting across from him while he laughed about a man who wouldn't die from the poison. He died in custody in 2006. His family never asked where he went when he got up at 2 a.m. and walked out the door. Would you have asked?

Kirk Franklin was caught OFF GUARD when Funny Marco questioned why a 64-YEAR-OLD WOMAN adopted him despite having EVEN LESS than he did growing up 😭💀 He also revealed how PISSED he was when his BIOLOGICAL MOTHER suddenly showed up after he became FAMOUS “Why she bring you there? Like damn, you brought me here and you doing bad… It’s like a homeless dude adopting someone. Come on, dude, you could’ve kept me where I was at” 🤣

This tribute from Ice Cube to D.O.C., right before the latter received his Paid in Full Award this weekend, was one of the most powerful things I've heard in a long time.

A teenager phoned Pan Am and said someone had stolen his pilot's uniform. Pan Am sent him to its tailor and billed the $289 to its own payroll. His name is Frank Abagnale. He ran away from home at 16 with no job and no money, and says nobody would pay him more than $1.50 an hour. So he told employers he was 26. Then he began writing personal checks on a bank account with nothing in it. Shops took them. The uniform needed an ID card. He bought a model Pan Am plane, softened the decals in water and pressed them onto a blank card. By his own count he flew about 3 million miles and reached 82 countries. Hotels accepted his checks because airlines had agreed to cover crew checks up to $100. He was convicted in France, then Sweden, then the United States, and he served his time. In the video below, you see him explain the uniform call and the decal ID himself, on The Tonight Show, as the studio audience laughs and then applauds. Watch for the line about shopkeepers: "Most people don't realize how gullible the average storekeeper is." Banks later paid him to teach tellers how to spot a bad check. Is hiring a man convicted of passing them smart security, or the wrong lesson?

Samuel Little confessed to strangling a woman in a cornfield. He can't remember her name. He remembers the gap in her teeth. He confessed to 93 murders in all. Per 60 Minutes, the FBI calls him the most prolific serial killer in US history. In the video below, he describes her. "Oh, man, I loved her," he says. Then he guesses her name might have been Ruth. They spent about three days together, he says. Then he was arrested at Kroger while she waited in the car. The manager wanted her car gone, so he called the station and asked them to drop the charges. They cut Little loose. He drove toward Bentonville and pulled into the woods. Local reports say he told investigators he strangled her there. He left her on a pile of corn stalks and trash. When the FBI posted this interview, she had not been identified. Little gave investigators roughly 700 hours of interviews across his confessions. Should the FBI keep releasing his tapes to find victims' families, or does each one hand a killer the stage?

George Lucas could have asked Fox for $1 million to make Star Wars. He took $125,000 and asked for the sequel and merchandising rights instead. Fox let him have both. By his own account, the studio thought it was giving away half of nothing. Everyone calls that contract genius. He says he was only protecting himself. He had just made American Graffiti and was the hottest director in Hollywood. Fox was on the ropes and sure he would ask for a million, which no director had ever been paid. He signed the memo for his salary. Everything it did not mention stayed open. Licensing barely existed. A toy takes a year or two to make, and a movie is gone in 6 weeks, so no studio wanted it. In the video below, he says it himself. Watch the part about the t-shirts and posters. "Everybody thought I was really brilliant but I was really just protecting myself." He had already written three movies. If the first flopped, Fox would own the rights and could tell him he could not make the rest. It did not flop. He went to a toy company, helped them build little action figures, and the money came from there. "Movies don't make money. I got news for you." Decades later he sold Lucasfilm to Disney for about $4 billion. The studio kept the movie. He kept everything that came after it. Was Fox cheated, or did it sell what it honestly called worthless?

The richest woman in New York spent her last years being told she was broke. The man telling her was her only son. Brooke Astor gave away close to $200 million to New York. Libraries, museums, parks. In her 100s she told a friend she'd bought some shoes, and "Tony's not going to approve." That friend later said under oath: telling her she couldn't afford a new dress isn't being careful. "That's just being mean." In the video below, ABC tells it from the verdict backward. Watch the grandson when he talks about his father. Tony Marshall ran his mother's money. She paid him a salary, at one point about half a million dollars a year. In 2006 her grandson Philip visited, stayed a little longer than usual, and the nurses started talking. He swore in court papers that she was sleeping "in torn nightgowns on a filthy couch that smells, probably from dog urine." His father called it lies. A judge ordered the couch replaced. Philip didn't take a stranger to court. He took his father. Worked out. The painting she loved most: sold for $10 million. Tony's commission: $2 million. (The jury acquitted him on that count.) The verdict, 2009: guilty on 14 counts, including grand larceny. He was 85. The sentence: one to three years. He served two months and was released on medical parole at 89. Brooke Astor: died in 2007, at 105. Philip came to the trial once. To testify against his father. Your grandmother is being neglected, and the man responsible is your dad. Do you call the lawyer?

JOHNNY SINS ENDED UP FILMING PORN WITH HIS FORMER HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER… AND SHE HAD NO IDEA HOW BIG THE COLLAB WOULD BECOME. 😭 According to Mrs. Robinson, she reached out to Johnny after entering the adult industry, hoping he would help promote her page. But there was one problem: he recognized her as his former teacher. Instead of leaving it there, Johnny suggested they film together. It took MONTHS to get their schedules aligned, but when the day finally came, Mrs. Robinson admitted she was nervous. After all, this wasn’t just another collaboration. This was JOHNNY SINS. And then he dropped a statement that somehow made the situation even more intimidating: “Do you know you are my most requested collab?” Her response? “Of course. Thanks for the pressure.”👀 Despite the nerves, she says the shoot turned out to be a huge success. And the craziest part? She claims she originally entered the industry just to make a little extra money. “I just meant to make a couple extra bucks.” Imagine entering an industry to make some extra cash, only to discover that your former student has become one of the biggest names in the business. 😭 BUT HERE’S THE REAL QUESTION: Would you be able to look at your former teacher the same way after something like this?

The poor woman didn't know that this strange sound was the sound of her husband and 4 other people vaporizing in fractions of a second: Wendy was aboard the support ship for the Titan submarine expedition, and her husband Stockton was piloting it, with 4 other people on board. During her monitoring of the expedition, she heard a sudden booming sound and asked those present: What is this sound? She didn't know that the sound she heard was the result of the catastrophic collapse of the submarine under water pressure, which claimed the lives of her husband and the other four in moments. What happened is called implosion, an internal collapse due to the immense water pressure that crushed the submarine. Most tragically, she continued monitoring the expedition, believing her husband was still alive. For after hearing the booming sound, a message arrived from the submarine indicating that it had jettisoned two weights, leading the crew to believe it was still operational. But the message had been sent before the submarine's collapse and arrived late. From the looks on the faces of the two men behind her, it seemed they knew what had happened but chose to remain silent.
