New paper from our SUPPORTED study of homecare at end-of-life. Findings from a rapid review of homecare @ EOL. Key findings - HCWs provide support in complex situations & emotionally demanding situations, yet can be isolated and under-valued within the wider care team #socialcare

Homecare workers - do you work 'in a bubble' & with only a 'breadcrumb trail' of notes and information to connect you to colleagues? See below for information about @RachelKelso12's work to bring together homecare workers for support & to get a place at the policy table ⬇️
If you know any care workers, please tell them about Homecare Workers' Group. On sign up, you can select what type of care work you do - current focus is obvs domiciliary, but welcome to all. Can also join if you're no longer a care worker but might reconsider if things improve.

This is a powerful demonstration of the importance #homecare. We are researching experiences of homecare workers at end of life (& this really resonates!). If you are a homecare worker providing EOL care in #Hull #Bradford or #Bromley do get in touch at [email protected]
Come with me to see what it's like being a homecare worker on a Saturday morning shift. Would love to give more insight into the many varied things we get up to alongside those who draw on support, but here are the rushed in between bits I can show, which are just as important

For my dissertation I'm speaking to care workers to understand how they perceive the work they do, how they think others perceive it, and what they make of the current focus on professionalising the workforce. Do you know any potential participants? Please do get in touch / share

I crossed paths with another home care worker at last week's @NottsCareAssoc conference. We had a long chat and I learned that Michele writes poetry about care work! Here's a lovely one about why the social side of our job is so important: homecarewg.org/post/two-side… #qualityofcare

As a home care worker myself for the last five years, I've always wished I had longer to chat to my colleagues when I do see them. So I've set up homecarewg.org to see what is possible
