🚨 WHY ARE VOLUSIA COUNTY TAXPAYERS PAYING THE AIRPORT’S BILLS?
Volusia County Resolution 2025-129 moved $352,512 from the General Fund into the Daytona Beach International Airport Fund — specifically for utilities.
That raises a simple question:
If the airport is an enterprise operation, why isn’t airport revenue covering airport operating expenses?
$352,512 may not break the county budget.
But taxpayers deserve to know why their General Fund is subsidizing an airport operation in the first place.
Follow the money. Ask the question.
🚨 $652 MILLION TO OPERATE. $72.8 MILLION COLLECTED FROM RIDERS. THAT’S NOT A SMALL SUBSIDY — THAT’S A BUSINESS MODEL BUILT ON PUBLIC MONEY.
Riders covered only about 11% of operating costs in 2024.
County/local sources supplied $290.67 MILLION for operations and another $254.80 MILLION for capital — about $545.5 MILLION in local funding.
Public transit doesn’t have to make a profit.
But it should be pushed far closer to self-sustaining than this.
When taxpayers are carrying this much of the load, the question isn’t whether buses are useful.
The question is:
WHY DOES IT COST THIS MUCH TO PROVIDE THEM?
Open the books. Measure efficiency. Demand answers.
🚨 $771,051 IN TRANSACTIONS. 122 DUPLICATE VENDOR RECORDS. A $58,370 INVOICE FLAGGED AS “POTENTIALLY FICTITIOUS.”
And the audit even found pest-control billing tied to a former director’s personal residence while the billing information listed the Emergency Operations Center.
This is why we audit government.
Taxpayers deserve answers.
@JusticiarsWatch just for you..
🚨 MARION TAXPAYERS ARE PAYING MORE THAN EVER — AND THE SHERIFF’S BUDGET PROVES IT.
Not just more in total.
More per resident.
More even after inflation.
More even after population growth.
And somehow we’re still told there’s nothing left to cut.
That’s not restraint. That’s appetite.
🚨 $3.2 MILLION. 28 REQUESTS. ONE NONPROFIT.
Florida Bulldog reports the nonprofit receiving the money is administered by Commissioner Oliver Gilbert’s own deputy chief of staff.
Gilbert’s office says there was no financial benefit.
Fine.
Then show taxpayers exactly who approved it, who monitored it, and what they got for $3.2 million.
Great point about the Florida Constitution…

That earned a follow. Great job, Meme King. I've never seen a sheriff tell the people the Florida has a Declaration of Rights seen in the Florida Constitution. Why? They're breaking the law. You can't acquire, possess and protect property if the county can steal it.
End property taxes now.
Local Counties have received a 50% pay raise in 4 years off the backs of property owners.
They were never expecting this and were THRIVING on Billions less.
The system was never designed to do this.
It’s time to course correct, pass Amendment 3, and then Eliminate and Replace the entire system.
We can then become the 1st State in the United States where you truly OWN YOUR PROPERTY.
🚨 HERE’S A CRAZY IDEA: CUT OUR TAXES — THEN FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD.
Taxpayers shouldn’t have to crawl through the county budget and find something to sacrifice before government will even discuss giving us relief.
You set priorities AFTER you know the revenue.
Families do it.
Businesses do it.
Government can do it too.
Stop asking taxpayers to justify tax relief.
Make government justify the spending.
Truth
In 1978, California’s Prop 13 opponents promised chaos, bankrupt schools, gutted police and fire, and 451,000 lost jobs. A year later none of it had happened. Florida’s Amendment 3 opponents are using the same script. School taxes stay. The exemption goes to homeowners. The governor’s plan included a fund to help communities in jeopardy and the legislature has leeway on appropriations to help them. Let’s go! Yes on amendment 3!

A six-month deal. $100,767 invoiced on Day 3 & paid on Day 13. The Auditor General found no measurable deliverables & no records of services provided. I included exactly where the money came from because facts matter. Paid first. Proof of work? None produced. This is why we ask.
He is at the forefront of this battle..
It’s a 100% guarantee that our Property Taxes are going up again if Amendment 3 doesn’t pass!
This is our chance to curb the government appetite for a never ending increase of revenue off the backs of homeowners.
Vote YES
and then lets come back and overhaul the entire system!

Broward Mayor Mark Bogen BLASTS Sheriff Tony for refusing to show up and refusing to open his books.
“As far as I’m concerned, Sheriff, you're not negotiating, you're not showing up at meetings, you're not talking to us, and we already passed the budget so I don't know what you're suspending.
He says the people of Broward County deserve stable government responsible stewardship of public resources, fairness, and accountability. I certainly agree that. We do. So let us audit your budget, Sheriff. If you believe in accountability, let us audit your $850 million budget so we can have accountability to the people of Broward County.
You go on to say that no public office is above scrutiny. I agree. We need to audit your budget so you're not above scrutiny.”

Wrap your head around this: Sarasota County property owners were billed $1.637 BILLION in property taxes and assessments in 2024 alone. Not sales, gas, state or federal taxes. Look around: are we $1.637B better off? Where did the money go? Vote YES on 3 !!!

Mike Moran cited Google ratings while seeking another double-digit budget increase. What he didn’t mention: taxpayers paid a PR firm $96,000 a year under a contract targeting 200 new Google reviews a month. This is why we ask questions. Meme King @SWFL5440 is inspiring! YES on 3

@chrisloomis was kind enough to catch the errors in my meme. I do know Bill Furst is the Property Appraiser. My bad! All the numbers were correct; the names were changed to protect the innocent. 😂 The corrected version is below. The water’s fine, Chris. Thanks for jumping in!

Jacksonville taxpayers keep getting handed the bill so downtown can look like a brochure.
Donna Deegan and the Downtown Investment Authority have spent this term treating the riverfront as a VIP lounge for billionaires.
Shad Khan’s Four Seasons and Shipyards package has been padded again and again — completion grants, tax rebates, utility moves, museum relocations — until the city’s incentive stack was pegged around $134 million, with the hotel’s property-tax rebate alone capped near $57 million over 20 years.
The DIA’s own math says the city might clear a modest net benefit decades from now. Residents get the risk and the debt service now.
Then there’s the stadium.
The 2024 deal locked the city into hundreds of millions for EverBank’s rebuild — commonly cited as $625 million in public stadium money, with broader public commitments pushing higher once parks and related work are counted — so an NFL team owned by a billionaire stays put and still ships a home game (or two) to London every year.
The Washington Post editorial board said the quiet part out loud: Jacksonville taxpayers are getting fleeced for slightly less football in the same place.
Meanwhile the neighborhoods that actually pay the property tax get potholes, and City Hall answers with another riverfront rendering and a claim that every tax dollar magically returns threefold.
State auditors and local critics have called the broader budget bloated under this administration; the mayor’s office calls that politics.
Fine. Politics is what you get when the Downtown Investment Authority keeps writing checks for luxury hotels and a stadium while the rest of Duval is told to wait their turn.
