📣 Right now MPs are debating the Government's Anti-Refugee Bill in the House Commons
As they discuss the proposals, we're urging MPs to:
❌ scrap the cruel plans to punish refugees
✅ back new proposals to open safe routes

We must not turn our backs on Afghan refugees in their time of need.
@BorisJohnson + @pritipatel can and must do more.
Join other refugee supporters and tweet your support for #AfghanRefugeesWelcome. Tagging in your MP if you can.

Proud that one of our Grassroots groups @SWR_HandInHand & Stafford Town of Sanctuary presented their first award to St Austin’s Catholic Church, given ‘Church of Sanctuary’ status today.
@theodoraclarke presented the award in recognition of the warm local welcome to refugees
@theodoraclarke without this amendment children like Tekle's brother will not be able to reunite with their siblings in the UK, please support Lords Amendment 4b this afternoon and retweet your support. xitter.cf/safepassageuk/status/1…
Later today the @HouseofCommons again votes on #LordsAmendment4 to save family reunion before December 31st.
This is why it matters. Without this amendment, children like Tekle's brother will lose their safe and legal route to sanctuary.
@DailyMailUK Thank you for covering this story and thanks to @ukhomeoffice for making this happen. Something our nation can be proud about tiny.cc/i60xoz

However the gov tries to portray it, next week's Lords vote isn't about technicalities & negotiating tactics.
It will send a signal to children living in the most horrendous conditions: that the UK knows they are waiting & wants to help; or that family reunion is not a priority.

It is disgraceful to use child refugees as a bartering chip with the EU.
I will not withdraw my amendment.
