10 flies. 60 legs. Zero hand-labeled training poses. 🪰
SIESTA turns plain-English descriptions of fly body parts into AI labels, then trains SLEAP to follow the action.

One massive, systemic issue in genomics is that we have collectively decided to pretend that all these assays are far more accurate and precise than they actually are. Until we reckon with that, progress will be limited, AI or no.

You can’t be bullish enough about solar. The sun is almost everything in our solar system. Literally. It’s like almost all the mass.
Knowing how to ask the right questions and being tenacious will get you all the help you need
in my experience office hours are nothing special. pg and sama are brilliant and it was always a joy to ping pong with their brains but if you know how to ask the right questions in the right way you can do "office hours" with any expert on X. now also there's lots of tacit communication going on in person, and often the things you need help with dont require the top expert in the world in a field, so important to do the same with the wisest folks in your locally community as well.
in other words: there's no secret in these office hours. often they are also tilted, where the YC partner has data/information that they are not telling you. often better to just talk to normal humans outside the priesthood. you can just do "office hours" anywhere, with anyone energized to help.

The housing crisis is really as simple as supply and demand. We need more housing supply.

Using AI to build prototypes has let me be even more inquisitive and childlike as an adult. Like playing with legos. A lot depends on your attitude—which is exactly why “it is important to remember what it is like to be a child” in the age of AI.
It’s never been a better time to build something you find fulfilling and spend time with friends and family
We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics.
The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra.
The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.

Met a German founder this week and asked him if all the stories one reads about the challenges of startups in Germany are exaggerated. "No, they're understated." Proceeded to describe spending a full day having a 90-page investment contract read to him (mandatory under German law; § 13 BeurkG) by a notary that then charged €30,000. That was for his first company. His second company, needless to say, was not incorporated in Germany.
Water usage has been a hot topic in the AI data center world, but the numbers may surprise you.
According to the Manhattan Institute, data centers use 0.2 percent of daily water usage in the U.S. and that number has dramatically decreased in the past few years due to a new method: liquid cooling.
By moving to 45°C liquid cooling, AI factories in favorable climates can use dry coolers instead of conventional cooling-tower-based systems, cutting facility cooling water use from roughly 2.6M gallons per MW per year to near zero.
Liquid cooling enables AI factories to be both water and energy efficient, while creating opportunities for heat reuse and dispersal to local communities, allowing these factories to become energy grid assets.

Elite admissions select for one trait: getting the known answer faster than anyone else. 18 years of optimizing against an answer key someone already wrote.
AI just made the answer key free. Everyone has it instantly now.
So the kids trained hardest to win spent their whole lives mastering the one thing that's now a commodity. The premium moved to the questions with no answer key yet.
We need a new training.
The new training is about one thing:
How to be the first person standing in a new land, exploring it, preparing it for the coming billion people who will need it. The future will be built by these people.
And there is a lot to build.

The East New York rezoning has already produced, in the space of a decade, almost all the 6,500 units that proponents of the rezoning predicted would be produced within 15 years.
Almost two-thirds are below-market affordable units.
