Yes. My dad kissed me and told me he loved me and inspired me to be the best person I could be and respect people and take/give love because it’s the most important thing in the world. I miss him everyday.
Does this look like an appropriate father/son interaction to you?

Loved directing this episode of NOBODY WANTS THIS new season (and the finale ep, also). We laughed a lot making this one...
For all my fellow Morgan and Sasha fans, this season finally delivers on their unspoken chemistry in ways I couldn't be more thrilled with. Their side quest to NYC is one of my favorite episodes of the year 🍎#NobodyWantsThis

John Cazale's impressive acting career was tragically cut short. @SaltyShep's documentary I Kew It Was You re-examines the amazing work Cazale did and also his lifelong friendship with Al Pacino. Richard talks to me about making the doc: buff.ly/Htlv40J

My friend, the brilliant producer Jeremy Thomas died the other day. Last nite I decided to watch 1 of my favs of his films, THE HIT (1984). It's a fantastic crime movie but also something more. It's a deeply mournful & insightful meditation of death. It cut straight to the heart

REALLY sad to hear of the passing of one of the GREAT British Film Producers — JEREMY THOMAS. The greatest praise I can give the guy is that he was MY kind of Producer, MY kind of Creative. He was ALL about pushing the boundaries, destroying the boundaries, sticking 2 fingers up to the boundaries. As Tilda Swinton says in the trailer below — He was soooo Rock ‘n Roll. He was a maverick, to the max. BUT, he also had extraordinary taste & style. He saw what could be done & what others could do when no-one else did. If you don’t know who he is that’s cool, but many of you will know & love some of his Films, which include: THE LAST EMPEROR (1987) — for which he won an Oscar THE HIT (1984) MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. LAWRENCE (1982) SEXY BEAST (2000) THE GREAT ROCK ‘n ROLL SWINDLE (1980) EUREKA (1983) INSIGNIFICANCE (1984) THE SHELTERING SKY (1990) NAKED LUNCH (1991) CRASH (1996) BLOOD AND WINE (1996) amongst so so many others. He did it HIS fucking way. He BACKED his writers, directors, actors — everyone. The norm, the beige, the gamers, the philistines, the wankers — they could fuck off. JEREMY THOMAS was an arch, supremely gifted Producer however, not just a maverick & rebel. The man knew Film. Knew it. He was steeped in it from birth via his Father (Ralph — who directed the ‘Doctor’ series of films) & his Uncle (Gerald — Director of all 30 of the ‘Carry On’ films). But hey, don’t take my word for it, watch this terrific documentary on him, and make up your own mind. If you’re sick & bored to fucking buggery bits with what’s called Cinema now, enjoy this look at the life of a guy who the Film industry definition of one of the most important things a human can be — AUTHENTIC. THE STORMS OF JEREMY THOMAS (2021) He was 77.

The brilliant British producer Jeremy Thomas passed away last night. From SEXY BEAST to THE LAST EMPEROR (to my DOM HEMINGWAY) Jeremy was a lover, supporter & passionate advocate of cinema. He was also my friend. How lucky was I that I got to be in his special life-swigging orbit

A great documentary to get a better sense of Cazale as an actor is 'I Knew It Was You: Rediscovering John Cazale' (2009, Richard Shepard). It looks back at his career and features interviews with Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Gene Hackman, and Francis Ford Coppola.

Movie played like gangbusters. It's fun, very funny and weird as hell, and I laughed a lot. The Hawk flies!
So great to see this movie in front of a sold out appreciative audience tonight with filmmakers Michael Lehmann and Daniel Waters. Laughing, cheering and totally getting the joke. Has the world finally caught up with “Hudson Hawk?”

Worth reposting myself 10 years later on this one...
On a hot summer night, thinking about one of the very best films ever made. DO THE RIGHT THING.

This is me 20 years ago. I am filming (and sleeping) in this rental house with friends. The Puffy Chair has recently premiered at Sundance. I am in a healthy relationship with the love of my life. After years of relentlessly pushing myself through the struggle, everything is finally working. I look so happy. Everyone can see it and is commenting on it. Not long after this picture is taken is when I have a nervous breakdown. I don't see it coming. It brings me to my knees. Thankfully, the story ends well. I'm able to build myself back up with therapy, medication, exercise, consistent sleep, etc. In some ways, that breakdown was a gift to help me become the person I am now. It certainly made me a kinder, gentler father/husband/friend/collaborator/mentor. But it almost broke me. Today is the last day of Men's Mental Health Month. Please remember that you can't always see what's going on from the outside. Sometimes it looks "happy." Check on your loved ones. Check in with yourself. And if you or someone you know is heading somewhere scary, @988Lifeline is a text/chat/call away.

What a book. A true-life thriller with twists and turns and unexpected heartbreak. Extraordinarily well told. Loved it. @praddenkeefe
