Delighted to see the devastating impact of #PoTS being addressed, it’s a very difficult journey for patients and their families @UKPoTS @LWNurses @SmartHealth_UK
It was a privilege getting to be involved with this training today, and so brilliant to learn more about #pots from these fantastic healthcare professionals. Thank you @UKPoTS for putting on such an excellent event

I’ll never tire speaking to new trainees and assistants about how varied, rewarding, interesting and (appropriately) challenging a career in #neuropsychology is. ‘I thought it was just about doing tests with people’ - it’s so much more than that!

As a neurologist, I can tell you that "people with #chronicillness in general don't fake being ill, they mostly fake being well."

As a primary care doctor, I can tell you that “People with #LongCovid don’t fake being ill, they mostly fake being well”
I love #neuropsychology and am so grateful to have the opportunity to study the PGDip in clinical neuropsych at Bristol
BUT my goodness is my brain tired after the first half of the teaching week, I think I'd forgotten how intense and exhausting lectures can be since the #dclinpsy days. Also I might be having an existential crisis about whether memory is real and if it can ever be measured...
I sort of fell into #PalliativeCare work by accident, but it is a part of my role that makes me feel hugely privaledged, and I'm passionate about increasing people's comfort and ease talking about death and dying and opening up these conversations where we can
So can you imagine my absolute joy during my last supervision session with our trainee when we both bought eachother books about dying as goodbye presents 🥹
And really I'll just use any excuse to share @drkathrynmannix phenomenal books with more people 🎉

The authors from the @Brain1878 study with a false claim that #POTS is psychogenic respond to all of the letters with more false claims. I'll try to outline them here 🧵:
1. They say, "the underlying cause of POTS remains elusive, and regrettably, there is no effective 1/n
You know your study is very flawed when you get criticism letters from @TeamSRRaj @DavidSGoldstei2 @davidtuller1, Roald Lambrechts and all other co-authors, including myself. Collectively, we told the authors & @Brain1878 that #POTS is not psychogenic!

Swedish researchers just published the first #POTS symptom score, based on the 12 most common symptoms reported by 1000s of patients in the Big POTS Study, a collaboration between Dysautonomia International, Vanderbilt & Univ of Calgary. This is progress!

A 🧵on #FND, #Neuropathy and #EhlersDanlosSyndrome
Was referred a patient with a diagnosis of "possible FND." She is in her late 30s with a b/l carotid artery aneurysms repair, a long-standing history of headaches and neuropathic pain, GYN surgeries, joint pain, easy bruising 1/n
Brilliant thread on improving #FND care - whilst it's hugely important to advocate for specialist services, we cannot underestimate the value of upskilling staff and increasing access to already well-established neuro teams for this group

In Nov 2017 I was told I had ALS and should prepare to die. By 2018 I had decided to fight with every single breath.
This is the trailer for what happened next. I hope you like it, will share it with everyone and get ready to change the world.
Good night moon.

I would like to see more provision for community rehab no matter where a person lives, and enough funding for teams to provide long term support at the right intensity #ActionForBrainInjuryWeek
It is #ActionForBrainInjuryWeek with the theme 'See the Hidden me', highlighting the impact of hidden disabilities. As a collective, we asked the question - 'if you could change one thing for people living with ABI, what would it be?' - what would you change?
